Electricity consumers along the Masaka Road corridor are set to enjoy more reliable and stable power following the commissioning of new integration power lines by the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL).

The newly commissioned infrastructure evacuates power from the Maya 220kV/132kV/33kV Substation, constructed by the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), providing an alternative source of electricity to communities previously served by the overloaded Mutundwe Substation.

The intervention will improve power supply to Nsangi, Nabbingo, Namagoma, Nakitokolo, Kitemu, Maya, Nakirebe, Katende, Lungala, Mpigi, Mpambire, Kamengo, Butoolo Landing Site, Kampiringisa, Buwama, Nsamizi and Mitala Maria.

According to UEDCL, the project is expected to significantly reduce the frequency and duration of power outages, strengthen network reliability, and improve customer satisfaction.

The completed first phase involved the construction of 1.83 kilometres of 33kV overhead power lines and the installation of a 33kV air-break switch, with Phase Two set to integrate the Kakiri, Mityana and Kasanje feeders.

The development marks another step in Government's continued investment in strengthening Uganda's electricity infrastructure to support households, businesses and economic growth. @UEDCLTD
