9/9 True crime reporting is important not for the act of the murder, but for remembering who the person was, honoring their memory and their family.

8/? I am sharing this because I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else. These aren’t movies, or just stories, these are PEOPLE who’s lives have been stolen and if you are ever at the point you classify a case as ‘boring’ maybe taking a break is what you need.

6/? for months. Recently when I watched the case of Gabriel Hernandez, I cried the entire time, I couldn’t look at the photos of him, it hurt. It broke me, it made me angry it made me feel what I should feel.

5/? and I felt nothing that I knew something was wrong. I deleted everything. I threw out all of my case files, logged off here, deactivated my Tumblr. Left groups and pages on Facebook, basically watched, listened, read nothing about true crime

(4/?) I could read case after case and feel nothing, I could classify a murder as “boring”. I could look at crime scene and autopsy photos and not feel a thing. It was when I looked at a child’s autopsy photos after being brutally beaten to death

(3/?) With the research into true crime something happened, I began got not see each death as a loss of a life, but rather a story. If it wasn’t gruesome enough I didn’t care. I wanted the worst of the worst, I wanted shock and horror.

(2/?) when I first started my podcast I was so about the research! I love doing research, looking deeper, finding little nuggets of information that connect to other pieces and creating the whole story from it all.
