Tapos ang yabang yabang netong Congressman Toby Tiangco umikot for press interviews na kunwari wala siya alam sa flood control projects sa Navotas City eh sabi nya ang District Congressman daw alam or dapat alam ang nangyayari sa kanyang district.

And then you have many media outlets treating Toby Tiangco with kid gloves and giving him generally a free pass on the flooding in Navotas.

I support accountability but not by hypocrites and people who should also be held accountable themselves – walang ingay yan si Toby Tiangco nuong panahon ni Duterte dahil masaya siya nuon.

Zaldy Co can be held accountable without the hypocritical participation of Toby Tiangco.

LEILA REITERATES CALL FOR PASSAGE OF PEOPLE'S FOI ACT TO STRENGTHEN FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

House Deputy Minority Leader and ML Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima on Tuesday, October 15, reiterated her call for the urgent passage of the proposed People's Freedom of Information (FOI) Act to strengthen transparency and accountability in government.

"We welcome Ombudsman Remulla's decision to lift the restrictions on public access to the SALNs of government officials. This carries out clearly the Ombudsman's mandate as the anti-corruption champion—to protect the public interest and to promote the common good—not the personal interests of the powers that be," De Lima said.

She stressed that Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs) should never be kept from the public.

"Hindi naman talaga dapat itinatago at pahirapan ang pagsasapubliko ng SALN. That's why, along with our fellow Liberal Party (LP) lawmakers... we are pushing for the mandatory disclosure of the SALNs of all public officials, including the President, Vice President, and other high-ranking officials, as part of our proposed People's Freedom of Information (FOI) Act," she added.

De Lima said the measure must be enacted immediately, noting that "given the magnitude and depth of corruption in the country, this should have been enacted long ago."

Liberal Party lawmakers have filed FOI bills in both chambers of Congress to institutionalize transparency and people-centered governance. In the Senate, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan filed Senate Bill No. 720, while in the House, De Lima and Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Egay Erice, Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Rep. Ian Amatong, Dinagat Islands Rep. Kaka Bag-ao, Muntinlupa City Rep. Jimmy Fresnedi, Albay 1st District Rep. Krisel Lagman, and Oriental Mindoro 2nd District Rep. PA Umali, filed House Bill No. 2897.

BAM PUSHES FOR DIRECT, TRANSPARENT ACCESS TO MEDICAL AID

Sen. Bam Aquino pressed the Department of Health (DOH) to ensure that medical assistance under the Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) program is directly accessible through hospitals and health facilities, without requiring political endorsements.

During the DOH budget hearing, Aquino raised concerns that healthcare support should not depend on whether patients know legislators or have political connections. He stressed that programs like Zero Balance Billing (ZBB) must be clearly communicated so Filipinos are aware of their right to free treatment in shared accommodations at DOH hospitals.

Aquino urged the DOH to publish a comprehensive list of hospitals implementing ZBB, provide clear guidelines on how patients can avail themselves of it, and strengthen systems to avoid confusion and unexpected charges. He also welcomed Health Secretary Ted Herbosa's assurance that ZBB applies to all DOH and specialty hospitals, regardless of patients' social or political ties.

"'Yun ho yung ayaw po namin, ayaw ko, na makakakuha ka lang ng healthcare dahil may kakilala ka. Dapat dahil Pilipino ka, makakakuha ka ng tulong," Aquino emphasized.
