Happy 85th birthday to Bernie Sanders, whose decades-long political career helped bring democratic socialism and left-wing populism into the mainstream of American politics.

i dont think aipac understands that the avg american doesn't care about me as much as they dislike them. no matter how hard establishment dems & the entire rw media apparatus try to boost my negative approvals with billions of earned media over the last couple of months, israel & aipac will always be less popular and far more consequential electorally than a socialist streamer/commentator.
you are the pro genocide, spend american dollars in israel instead pac. you used to get bipartisan support across the board. you were responsible for writing (anti 1a) anti bds legislation in 30+ states. now you're reduced to losing a beef with a twitch streamer.
youre a failed tv personality whos been elevated by elons algo to be another rightwing moron on this website after you crashed and burned in the la mayoral primary. you know nothing of the midwest, most people in your own city despise you. why haven't you moved yet?
NEW: Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is finally defending streamer Hasan Piker, rejecting a “massive effort to cancel Hasan” and arguing that critics are deliberately distorting his views.
“They’re trying to equate him and David Duke and him and Nick Fuentes,” El-Sayed said. “The fact that they’re working so hard to character assassinate him suggests that there is a disjunct there between what he’s actually saying and what people hear him saying who actually pay attention.”
El-Sayed said Piker streams for hours every day, making it easy for opponents to selectively clip him: “Whenever anybody tries to cut you out of context, they’re never doing it in good faith.”
He also stressed that he agrees with Piker on a great deal: “There are a lot of things he says that I deeply agree with. People deserve health care. We shouldn’t be fighting dumb wars. The war in Iran is ridiculous. Donald Trump is a fascist. All true.”
While saying there are also comments he disagrees with, El-Sayed argued that “if you sat down with Hasan” and asked whether he hates particular groups of people, “it’s not what they’re trying to turn him into.”
He accused Republican opponent Mike Rogers of using guilt by association because he has “nothing to say about anything.”
Bernie Sanders unloaded on the Democratic establishment in an exclusive interview with Playbook, saying the party is its own biggest obstacle to a Senate majority.

Sen. Bernie Sanders w/Politico: “You come up with these stupid charges because you are intellectually bankrupt and you cannot deal with the real issues."
Politico: Bernie Sanders says a 'small number' of Democratic Party leaders and donors might be rooting against Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race.
“I think there are a few who would say, ‘You know what? It’s not worth it,’” Sanders said in an interview when asked if there are Democrats who want to see El-Sayed lose.
“You’re talking about a small number of people who are at the head of the Democratic Party. You're talking about the donor class,” Sanders added. “Are they less than enthusiastic about Abdul? Yes, they are.”

Watters: Some of the stuff is just straight up wacky.
El-Sayed: We have a president of the United States that cares more about the drapes in a ballroom that shouldn't be built than he cares about the war he just got us into. That seems to be a little wacky
El-Sayed: I thought you were for the everyday man. If you're for billionaires, you and I disagree.
Watters: I just think I have the right to the fruits of my own labor
El-Sayed: Billionaires don't make their money off of their labor. They make their money off their money
this is why lots of people in power see our movement as an existential threat. because democracy is a threat to the inevitable oligarchy capitalism breeds.
