Felix of Stray Kids Selected as the Hallyu Artist for the 2026 Hanbok Wave Project

On June 17, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Felix of Stray Kids has been selected as the Hallyu cultural artist for the 2026 Hanbok Wave project. Felix will collaborate with five Korean hanbok brands to showcase the modern appeal of hanbok to audiences around the world.

Hanbok Wave is a project led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, which develops hanbok products through collaborations between talented hanbok companies and Hallyu artists while supporting the promotion of Korean hanbok brands.

Now in its seventh year, Hanbok Wave has previously partnered with major Hallyu stars including former figure skater Kim Yuna (2022), singer and actress Suzy (2023), actress Kim Taeri (2024), and actor Park Bogum (2025). Through these collaborations, the project has successfully promoted the unique beauty, cultural value, and global competitiveness of hanbok both in Korea and abroad.

Applications for companies wishing to design and develop hanbok in collaboration with Felix will be accepted from June 17 to July 10. The Ministry and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation will evaluate small and medium-sized enterprises in the hanbok industry based on expertise, originality, feasibility, and potential impact, selecting a total of five companies.

Each selected company will create 10 hanbok designs inspired by Felix's image and symbolism. The completed hanbok collections will be unveiled through fashion editorials, digital billboards in major cities such as Seoul, New York, Paris, and Milan, as well as various promotional content both domestically and internationally.

Jeong Hyang-mi, Director General of Cultural Arts Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated:

"As K-content continues to gain global influence, international interest in hanbok has never been greater. We hope that this project with Felix will serve as a catalyst for establishing hanbok as attractive and desirable cultural content among fans around the world, including in North America and Europe."

During the filming of the recent Pepero commercial, Felix reportedly assisted the production team by interpreting between the Korean-speaking director and the foreign models on set.

According to one of the models, all models participating in the shoot were foreigners, and with the manager who usually communicated with them unavailable, the director had to communicate with them directly. Felix stepped in to translate between Korean and English, ensuring that the director and models could communicate clearly throughout the shoot.

The model noted that Felix took the time to make sure everyone understood each other, despite not being required to do so, and praised his consideration and willingness to help.
