@amalalagroobi @yashar Will you be writing anything, giving notes on scripts, etc for the Disney program? If so that would be considered scabbing by the WGA and you would not be permitted to join in the future. That would bar you from any work with any company who is a signatory, which is almost all.
@amalalagroobi @yashar If you ever want to be in the WGA, be very careful. This could potentially make it impossible for you to join in the future as it’s seen as scabbing to provide any material work that would fall under writer duties to a struck company, and Disney is a struck company.
@amalalagroobi @yashar And yes, it includes all the programs and mentorships they have. Most aspiring writers are not applying for these right no because if they get in, they will have to provide work for a struck company and that will mean they cannot join the WGA in the future.
There is enough food for everyone on the planet. Pretending like America’s
budget is busting because starving people are getting too much free food, and not because of America’s bloated war budget, is obscene.
“If I am having a conversation with someone, and I cannot tell whether it is a human or an AI—that’s the end of democracy,” warns @harari_yuval in a guest essay
@AnthonyCrowel16@BillFOXLA And people can’t just “live where their beliefs align.” What a bonkers thing to think every time a law is passed, people would just move. That is an expectation completely unhinged from the reality of how actual people live their lives.
@AnthonyCrowel16@BillFOXLA The states is still the government. I don’t think Mississippi or New York should say what their citizens can read or what health decisions they make. People can make those decisions for themselves.
@AnthonyCrowel16@BillFOXLA Will the law stop people getting abortions? Will it stop drag shows? Will it stop people from reading certain books? For a party that loves “small gov’t” and “deregulation,” you sure love regulating everything EXCEPT guns.
@emilynussbaum Most of the nation isn’t watching/paying attention to this trial, unfortunately. It doesn’t really matter what the defense is, if the jury has any Trump sympathizers on it, they’ll defend him.
@The_BSMedia@J_Frieds@stalkmytweetsyo@theashleyray@MollyMahoney2 Today they’re coming for writers, but it won’t stop there. They’ll come for any middle class profession and they will destroy it. And the collapse of the middle class will decimate us. We should all care when the 1% threaten the livelihoods of the 99%.
@The_BSMedia@J_Frieds@stalkmytweetsyo@theashleyray@MollyMahoney2 Union rules apply to all productions done under union contracts, no matter what state they take place in. Most everything you watch is governed by a union contract. If there’s nothing in production, then no on one New Mexico is filming either.
@The_BSMedia@J_Frieds@stalkmytweetsyo@theashleyray@MollyMahoney2 And gig economies, as we have seen, are very bad for workers. This may seem like a niche problem now, but believe me, if the studios get away with what they’re trying to do here, other industries will quickly follow.
@The_BSMedia@J_Frieds@stalkmytweetsyo@theashleyray@MollyMahoney2 You are seeing nothing short of the potential collapse of an entire industry, one that governs most all entertainment created anywhere. There will be absolutely no way to make a living doing this work no matter where you live. It will be a gig economy at best.
