🇯🇵 Someone has to wonder why does Japan's global market share has crumbled over the past decade, it used to be the central of everything now;
• Semiconductors: 50% → 9%
• Shipbuilding: 50%+ → about 10%
• LCD Panels: 94% → about 2-5%
• Televisions (Sony + Pan): 40%+ → <6%
• Mobile Phones: 20% → <1%
• DRAM: 80%+ → 0%
• Telecom Base Stations: NEC + Fujitsu combined less than 2%
• Power Semiconductors: Top five hold 20%+ → Only three seats in top ten, each <5%
• Textiles: 6% → <1.5%
• Automobiles: Global share about 20% → Overtaken by China as No. 1 exporter, Japanese brands in China drop from 23% to under 10%
• Share of Total Global Exports: 9%+ → <3%
• Share of Global GDP: 17% → <4%
Is China the clear winner since overtaking Japan as the second largest economy?
OpenAI may have caused the worst consumer hardware crisis in a decade with purchase orders that were never real.
In October 2025, Sam Altman flew to Seoul and signed simultaneous deals with Samsung and SK Hynix for 900,000 DRAM wafers per month. That's 40% of global supply. Neither company knew the other was signing a similar commitment at the same time. The pricing and terms would have looked very different if they had.
Those "deals" were letters of intent, not binding purchase orders. No RAM actually changed hands. But the market treated them as real. Contract DRAM prices jumped 171%. A 64GB DDR5 kit went from $190 to $700 in three months. DDR4 kits that should have been in oversupply doubled. Retailers stopped posting prices entirely.
The Abilene Stargate expansion just got cancelled because OpenAI couldn't forecast its own demand. Oracle couldn't agree on financing. The partners are squabbling. Bloomberg reported the $500B project hadn't started and no funds were raised to meet the initial budget. Multiple data center buildouts are delayed or shelved.
Now DDR5 prices are finally dropping for the first time in months, and it has nothing to do with OpenAI walking away from anything. Google released TurboQuant on March 24, a compression algorithm that cuts AI memory requirements by 6x. SK Hynix and Samsung stocks dropped 6% and 5% overnight. Corsair kits fell $60-100 from their highs within days.
One company locked up 40% of global memory with commitments it may never fulfill. A different company published a research paper. The research paper is doing more for RAM prices than the entire supply chain has done in six months.
The biggest ReVanced update in years just released.
ReVanced Manager v2 is finally here.
After more than 2 years of development, the app has been completely rewritten.
Key upgrades:
• full rewrite using Jetpack Compose
• plugin system to download APKs directly
• support for multiple patch sources
• automatic APK sourcing for patching
• browse patches without selecting an app
• simplified patching workflow
• redesigned UI and improved navigation
• integrated announcements for updates
It now runs on ReVanced Patcher v22, enabling patches for much newer YouTube and YouTube Music versions.
This update also lays the foundation for a much larger ReVanced ecosystem going forward.
V6 of my #FC26 gameplay mod is out - and the focus this version has been heavily on MOVEMENT.
I've made some big discoveries/developments in turning/inertia/overall movement.
After loads of work, players now turn and move so much more naturally (and with realistic weight), with those 'snap turns' being removed amongst many other things.
There's a big knock-on impact on the gameplay as well as you really have to think about when you turn, which forces you backwards and sideways much more.
Check it out - this is playing so different from default FC right now.
The gameplay is my mod and you'll find the link to it in my bio (this is using the all new Natural X standalone for reference).
