Ollie Horgan was one of life's greats. He taught us Maths and Technical Drawing, and I played football against him when I was older. A gentleman. A character. A Galway accent despite decades amongst us. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann! #Donegal#Galway
Everyone associated with Finn Harps is deeply saddened by the passing of former manager Ollie Horgan.
A man of great integrity and resolve, Ollie’s contribution to Finn Harps and Irish football will never be forgotten.
A proper football man.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Brutal news about Ollie Horgan. One of a kind - portrayed as wild & wonderful character due to manic sideline presence & crazy tales about his dedication to recruitment & scouting but layers to his character too. Classical music enthusiast & excellent pianist amongst other things

#Gaza: We warned against the militarized & politicized «aid» hubs that today ended in chaos and aid stolen & diverted from families in need. This fiasco could have been averted if our normal humanitarian system had not been blocked for months by Israel. https://t.co/xpY7EDnlYo

🚨BREAKING: The Israeli army opened fire directly at a European diplomatic delegation—including ambassadors—while they were visiting Jenin in the West Bank.
This comes just one day after the UK and France announced their determination to recognize the Palestinian state.
She was no more than eight. Her dress, dusty and worn, couldn’t quite conceal the dignity she once must have been wrapped in — the kind that clings to children of better days, before the sky collapsed on Gaza.
In the rubble-lined streets of northern #Gaza, where hunger is no longer a condition but a constant, I saw her. A little girl stepped quietly toward a wooden cart pulled by a tired donkey — a karro cart — and plucked three raisins from a tray — no more, just three.
When the vendor spotted her, she panicked. She didn’t run — she fled, shrieking, “I’m not a thief! I swear I’m not a thief! I’m just hungry!” Her voice cracked as if her soul were confessing a crime she hadn’t committed. The vendor rushed after her and blocked her path. Overcome with fear, she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
He knelt beside her and lifted her gently. Moments later, she stirred, and as her eyes fluttered open, she spit out the raisins she hadn’t even swallowed, her hands trembling. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, “I swear I’m sorry.” Her words were a sob, not an apology.
The vendor looked at her — not with judgment, but with something deeper: recognition. He kissed her forehead and said, “I won’t forgive you… unless you come eat with me. Deal?”
She blinked at him, stunned. Then her face melted into a smile and tears at once — the kind of smile that only survivors wear. She nodded.
He took her back to the karro, opened two cans of tuna, and fed her with his own hands. She sat on the cart, her legs swinging in the air, as if her joy alone could lift the ruins of the city. She ate. She smiled. And for a brief, trembling moment — Gaza tasted like hope.
