It is a hard language, let's not be fooled, but if I was to give any advice for learning how to read and pronounce it, start with the Irish alphabet (Latin but fewer letters) then learn long vowels and short vowels (caol le caol, leathan le leathan, this also helps to conjugate)

Irish spelling vs pronunciation is always such absolute bullshit you can really tell it’s supposed to be written out using, like, potato runes and they just sorta threw the Latin alphabet stuff together an afterthought. Sidhe pronounced ‘she’ get the fuck outta here

English is worse.

Through, true are pronounced very similarly, but why not thought, thorough. Why is the "ough" not pronounced the same?

C is either a c or a k and nobody explains why. In Irish it's always a k.

Irish is a complex language but it's pronunciation is consistent
