An editor can't guarantee your manuscript will get published. All an editor can do is help polish and support your work so if it does get published, it'll live up to its full potential and will more effectively resonate with and immerse your readers #WritingCommnunity
It's vital to be realistic about how long the editing process takes. An editor can't get through your 150k-word manuscript in a week. It's just not possible. And you don't want someone to try to make it possible. You're paying for quality support, not a quick service.
The fact that I still have to push back against misogynistic character descriptions in some writers' books in 2026 is horrifying. Can we please move on from the "need" to describe the male MC's wife as "vivacious" so the character "would be more photogenic"? 🤦♀️
An excellent video touching on issues within the publishing industry that've become more prevalent in recent years. These are examples of precisely why I'm "overly thorough" when editing for my authors.

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!
Now that we've slid into November, ProWritingAid's Novel November event has begun! Are you participating this year? #WritingCommunity
@PJScribbansAuth I do neither. I can't write out of order, so I will give my brain a short break instead. Maybe watch a Youtube video. Maybe get a coffee or tea. Then try again.
If you don't like trigger warnings as a reader, just skip them. Just because you don't need them doesn't mean other readers don't. Also, as a writer, it's your responsibility to give your readers a heads-up regarding sensitive topics. They're only spoilers if you provide context.
There’s a lot of people on here that seem to be obsessed with trying to be Stephen King and emulate his writing method.
Be yourself. Find your own way. That’s far more potent and meaningful for a creator.
@Raetellings It genuinely depends on the writer! For some, this becomes a trap and makes it impossible to finish their book. For people like me, though, I have to edit as I go. It's the only way to finish any of my projects. The trick is, figuring out which kind of writer you are
@Raetellings As someone who works 10-6, has a partner, and pets, and tries to maintain a social life, write my own WIPs, and study German, I get this struggle. Sadly, I have no tips though 😅😂 Just gotta do our best to not burnout
@PJScribbansAuth The very first was about a butterfly finding it's identity and power. I was eight. My grandmother helped me with it. I even did art to go with it.
When I logged in today, I had over 800 "followers." Now, I know how many *real* followers I have.
I purged:
- Bot accounts
- P0rn accounts
- Anyone inactive for over two years
- Anyone supporting MAGA (or similar groups/people)
Just shows how much this platform has fallen ...
✨Another lovely testimonial! ✨
