Here is an example of blatant ZANUPF voter intimidation and rigging of the election.

ZANUPF is taking ID Numbers and names of voters before they vote, and telling them that it will know who they would have voted for.

This is illegal, and it is also illegal to set up a desk inside the 300 meter radius of a polling station.

David Coltart has been promised Bulawayo’s Mayoral position by the leader of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, reports @NewZimbabwe.Com:

The promise is based on the wish that Chamisa’s CCC will win most of Bulawayo’s 29 council seats and that the elected councillors will obey Chamisa’s orders in the vote for mayor.

Although Coltart came a distant number last, after he was heavily defeated in the CCC ‘community caucus’ candidate selection for Ward 4 in Bulawayo, Chamisa imposed him as the winner, ahead of the real winnera, as Harare’s choice for Bulawayo mayor.

Chamisa used CCC’s Bulawayo rally two days ago on Sunday to make public his handpicking of Coltart as his Bulawayo mayoral choice.

This is raising eyebrows not least because it's the Bulawayo community - not Chamisa or his Harare cohort - which must choose its Mayor through its elected councillors.

Besides, why is Chamisa bent on singling out Bulawayo, and imposing a mayor there?

Unconcerned that this is irreparrably damaging his claims to be a democrat, and speaking as if he thinks he would be an Executive Mayor, Coltart thundered at the Sunday rally:

“I have been a lawyer in this city for 40 years. I want to use my 40 years experience as a lawyer to review all the contracts in Bhuluweyo, to see whether they are in the interests of the citizens of Bhuluweyo, if we find the contracts are not in the interests of Bhuluweyo...,” to Chamisa's amusement.

It is outrageous for Coltart to think he can be the mayor of a local community whose language he does not speak, despite having been born there 66 years ago and having worked there as a lawyer for 40 years.

The best he can do is to pronounce 'Bulawayo' as 'Bhuluweyo', just like the Rhodies pronounced it 43 years ago.

Outside Hillside Teachers College within 300 meters of the polling station Zanu PF set up an “Exit Survey” station which is illegal and clearly designed to intimidate voters. After complaints the police moved them. But these will be set up countrywide to intimidate.

On this day in 1982, Josiah Thomas Mberikwazvo Tungamirai shot and killed Cyprene Ndiweni, a serving member of ZNA and a former ZPRA, at a parade. At the same parade, he summarily dismissed 250 ex-ZPRAs accusing them of being dissidents. In November last year, there was an out-of-court settlement, and the government agreed to compensate the 250 soldiers who were fired without due process simply because they were ZPRA. Over the holidays, I saw some of the fired cde and s still waiting for the compensation. #Asakhe
