The main point though is accessibility - the biggest uphill battle for competitive Pokemon has always been the time it takes to get Pokemon in game. Being able to instantaneously train a Pokemon competitively, and to do it on your phone, means anyone who wants can start playing

Maybe this is a hot take but without a good map tracking completed tasks and collectables, Free-Roam is aggressively unfun and basically unplayable for me.
Unlocking characters via Kamek also sucks.
Giving it an 8.5 despite that shows how much I like everything else.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet honestly feels like a new game on Switch 2.
It's never going to be the best looking JRPG available on Switch 2, but now I'd recommend picking it up without hesitation.
It's the game that should've released in 2022.
