West Leeds won their 2nd match of the season in Yorkshire 1 with a 19:33 bonus point victory at Rish. The visitors raced into a 0:18 lead after two Danny Booth tries. The home side fought back well but Wests defence held firm to take the spoils.
Great to see West Leeds and Beverley competing in the Yorkshire Shield today. This was the only game played as all the others were walk overs. Result 27:36 to Beverley. Good luck in the next round and thanks for coming!
West Leeds recorded their first win of the 24/25 season with a 40:31 home result against Leos. 5 points in the bag. All this happened despite an inexplicable red card for Wests full back Keir. Thanks to all the boys for the deserved win and keep up the good work. JB
The reputation of the Papa John cup was destroyed in Widnes today. The failure of Cheshire to appoint an experienced team of 3 officials in a National quarter final was inept. This was never a fair contest and the visitors scrum dominance was ignored by the expressed official.
West Leeds progressed in the Papa John Cup following a 39:33 victory over a most formidable Ilkeston side. A well entertained crowd saw the lead change hands many times but the home team showed enough determination to prevail. The reward is a trip to Widnes.
The new challenge for West Leeds is the Papa John Cup. A tie away at Lincoln RFC was a first visit for the club. However a tough season in Yorkshire 1 gave the boys the experience to win comfortably by 22:54. A hat trick for Eliah too!
Champions elect Bradford Salem came to Bluehill Lane and scored 50 points. Wests never gave up and dominated the scrums to irritate the heavyweight visitors. The 13 point reply was never enough but the season was largely satisfactory!
West Leeds ran out of steam after doing so well for 60 minutes. Wetherby scored 3 tries towards the end and ran out deserved 13:28 winners. Much credit to the fringe players who pulled on the shirt today. Thanks boys.
This game was played in the most atrocious conditions yet both sides contributed to an entertaining game. Wensleydale proved stronger in the 1st half but West Leeds experience soon secured a fine 25:10 victory. Evergreen Mark Calderwood scored a try too!
A much changed West Leeds lost their unbeaten home record to Beverley 13:15. Two late tries gave Wests the chance of a win but both conversions were missed. Good to see Danny Booth back!
Joe Bedford was determined to play the day after his 40th birthday and his ambition was achieved. Unfortunately, Rish spoilt the party with a 29:18 deserved home win. The Wests pack dominated the scrums but could never recover from the 19:0 opening deficit.
A big thank you to all the boys who pulled on a West Leeds shirt today. Against all the odds, they pulled off a 28:21 victory over Leos. A show and go by the home 10 proved the turning point in a well refereed and good natured game. Keir was fine at 13!
West Leeds had a tough game on the 3g at league leaders Keighley. The home side raced into a 14:0 lead but Wests did not panic and used their experience and determination to get back in the game. The 21:17 result flattered Keighley and their hostile home crowd.
Difficult to explain how West Leeds won 17:16 against Hullensians. Perhaps home advantage told in the end but 4 yellow cards certainly did not help. In the end, Eliah scored his 22nd try of the season and this was enough to secure a close yet bizarre victory.
