@fluentlanguage If everyone in the class is pretty dedicated and of roughly similar level, then I prefer group lessons. However, I have rarely ever encountered that kind of situation.

@LangTravAdoptee I don’t have a numerical goal. There are about six languages I potentially would like to learn to a fairly high level of comprehension. There are a few others that might be nice, but I have to be realistic about the rate it takes me to learn. There’s only so much I can do.

There also does not seem to be a way to flag an error in quiz mode. The existing methods are only if there is an error in the word itself, which in this case should be translated as “seal,” but it is a different meaning of the word.

@language_drops there seems to be an error in the vietnamese version if quiz mode. One question asks users to select all items that are animals. One of the “correct” choices is niêm phong.

This word refers to a seal you stamp with, not an animal.

I'm taking an indefinite Twitter break. I love all the people in #langtwt, but I'm getting a bit too many non-language tweets in my feed, many of which I really don't care for. I also think I need to get back to basics and focus on some non-language learning stuff more.

#langtwt I’m fed up with Duolingo. I just deleted the app. I may go back to it in the future, but they just seem to be getting too greedy and manipulative. It’s not enough for you to buy a subscription, they just keep trying to get you to shell out more and more money.

@PodcastEspanol I don’t emphasize speaking early on. I try to study on my own at first, just focusing on passive skills. But if I happen to run meet a speaker of that language I might try something out

@canilanguages I have the lifetime premium. It has a great variety of languages including some pretty obscure ones. The words all have audio.

@KH_waytolang To improve reading, I would suggest you just start finding articles about topics you like online and just copy and paste the words you don’t know into an online dictionary. Or use ebooks with a built in Japanese dictionary. You can expand your vocabulary pretty quickly that way.

@sHa_lLow_ If you’re advanced you don’t have to worry quite as much about doing it every day. 加油！有志者事竟成。

@sHa_lLow_ Try to do a minimum every day for both languages. Don’t set the minimum too high. For example, have an app you try to keep a streak on that hopefully takes no more than 15 minutes a day to maintain. Other things you might do is read a news article or listen to a short recording.
