Anyone know of any good Georgian resources? Preferably something similar to Assimil with audio and text that’s not too outdated.
I’d like to learn it in the future, so I’m very curious about which resources are available.😇 #langtwt
@LanguageComeUp So Apparently we all have super human language learning brains. 🤷
It was just such a random debate to get sucked into.
I have a few more, but that was definitely one of the more strange ones. 3/
@LanguageComeUp I got dragged into a strange debate with somebody at an in-person language exchange cuz “the fact that I could learn more than 2 langs meant I had a gift and I should just accept it”. I explained that there were many polyglots and that for 99% of us, it’s the effort we put in 1/
@LanguageComeUp It’s also technique, trial and error, and much more. I failed French immersion back in school, so I definitely don’t have a language learning gift and I’d assume that 99% of polyglots are regular people who just put in the required work. He just wouldn’t buy it. 2/
@MarkBogard86 I think a big part of it is due to the lack of resources. I wanted to learn a few African languages, but couldn’t find the resources that I used for other languages.
I also found that the resources that DO exist, lack audio which is one of the most important things for me.
They: 8 languages?! You're talented! 🤯
But I:
- have no other hobbies
- use Anki 1 hour every day
- found a job making me even better at languages
- my social life = language exchanges
- have a study buddy & we only talk about how to learn better
They: TaLEnTeD! 🤯

@LanguageComeUp “To the lake” is a good one. It’s about a rampant disease that spreads around Moscow and survivors have to escape. There’s also one I was planning on watching. I think it’s called “better than us”. It’s about cyborgs. I don’t know much elseabout it, but it was recommended to me.
@LanguageComeUp I do recall a few young children, who must have just started to learn English —running up to me at grocery stores, shyly trying to say Hello in English before running back to their parents and high fiving them. 😂
@LanguageComeUp As a Canadian, I can relate to this. Especially when I was in Belarus. People were SHOCKED to meet a Canadian in a “small” town, especially when I spoke Russian. I found that most people didn’t speak English though, so the convos had to continue in Russian.
@LanguageComeUp Somebody should definitely start a Twitter thread where people post the current state of their most used language learning resources. I have a few beaten up books. I feel like the more beaten up the book, the more of a story it tells.
@LanguageComeUp That looks just like mine 😂. I had to tape the front page back on not to long ago 😅. I’m currently going through their second book and it’s really good so far. It’s just hard because it’s not available in English and the level is apparently C1
The Uber driver I just had (from Uzbekistan) went from super silent in English to the friendliest guy in the world in Russian. Language unlocks so much, it's a beautiful thing.
