America no longer needs to keep large numbers of troops stationed in countries where the governments don’t support us.

Recent operations in Venezuela and Iran have shown that the United States can project power anywhere in the world without relying on permanent bases or using our soldiers as forward-positioned targets.

With today’s military capabilities—air power, naval forces, and rapid deployment—we can strike when necessary and bring our forces home, instead of leaving them exposed in regions where they are not welcome.

That doesn’t mean abandoning our strength—it means using it smarter.

America can defend its interests without placing troops in harm’s way as a constant presence.
