Fabian Hurzeler is not going to be the Brighton manager for too long.

I’ve been singing the gospel of Brighton & Hove Albion since last week, and a lot of people were questioning me.

I said that, aside from Barcelona right now, there is no team playing a better and more exciting brand of football than Brighton.

And I’m happy the world is getting to see it in a big game like this, at their own stadium.

Arsenal came into this game looking confident after winning every game this season so far. They looked like they came into the game thinking they were already champions.

But football doesn't work like that.

The winner isn't determined by the name on the badge. It is determined by who performs better on the pitch — and right now, the best-performing team has been Brighton.

Fabian Hurzeler has got his tactics spot on. Brighton are dominating possession, controlling the game and taking the initiative, including two shots from outside the box.

This is a team that genuinely excites me to watch.

And it goes to show that you don't need a team full of superstars to play beautiful football.

You need competent owners, a good environment, a proper system and a smart manager to steer the ship.

Of course, an early Arsenal goal in the second half could completely change the dynamics of this game.

But for now, Brighton are showing exactly why I’ve been talking about them.

Let’s see how it ends.

🗣️ Jamie Carragher: “I think we need to start talking about Fabian Hürzeler because what he’s doing with Brighton is becoming ridiculous.

You look at their team before a game and you’re not sitting there thinking, ‘Wow, look at all these superstars.’ There’s no £100 million player, no collection of massive names.

Then the whistle goes and suddenly Brighton look like the best team on the pitch.

They beat Coventry 5-0. They go to Old Trafford, go 2-0 down and come back to win. Now they’re putting Arsenal under serious pressure and scoring goals for fun.

And what impresses me is that it isn’t one player carrying them.

It’s the whole team.

They press together, they run together, they attack together. If one player loses the ball, another is already sprinting to win it back.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

Hürzeler has created an identity where the players clearly understand what he wants from them.

And Arsenal came into this game with one Premier League goal conceded all season.

One.

Brighton looked at that and basically said, ‘So what?’

That tells you everything about the mentality Hürzeler has created.

He hasn’t built Brighton by collecting superstars. He’s built a team that makes ordinary players look dangerous and makes good players look even better.

That’s what great coaching can do.

At this rate, Brighton aren’t just having a good start.

They’re becoming a serious problem for everyone.”

“You look at Brighton’s team sheet and, with respect, you’re not immediately thinking, ‘How are we going to survive against these players?’

Then the game starts and you understand.

Everybody runs. Everybody presses. Everybody wants the ball. You press one player and somebody else appears in the space. After 20 minutes, players you weren’t worried about before kick off suddenly look like they have another level.
