@Mark_IKN Jeez, man it'll come! Everyone was at the cottage in Jul/Aug, and now they're all going to socialize at Beaver Creek. Look for deals 6-12 weeks later.
@Mark_IKN Who says I'm a commie? :)
M&A will happen, at single asset and mid-tier producers before pre-prod jrs. Those cash piles are getting big and eventually those become a liability for a mgmt team that needs to use it to grow or the investors will replace them with someone who will.
@Mark_IKN@DavidFi_ Hah, bang on. Bad deals are bad deals, and they usually mark the top of the cycle.
Lumwana, Tasiast were late days.
And asking for junior M&A (beyond a couple of one asset companies getting together) is like asking junior CEOs/boards to be self aware. Good luck!
@Mark_IKN Issue is that it's very First Nation specific... it's like painting Latin America with one brush and saying permitting in latam is a problem. BC FNs are very diverse, just like latam countries, provinces, municipalities are.
@SultanAmeerali Generally playability is fixed and hasn't moved much. TC/RC have moved a lot, and yes selling into China at negative values is huge. Bottom line is global smelting is overbuilt compared to supply, so shit cons have a home at attractive terms.
@SultanAmeerali Besides, is Black Pine really getting bought? Always thought they'd be forced to build it since M&A for development assets hasn't really been a big feature of this cycle.
@SultanAmeerali 10000%. Unpermitted dev assets don't get bought, yet at least. US permitting is so sensitive that disrupting any of the relationships with the agency often isn't worth it.
@FjordPhil The other major challenge is that this is a Cu/Mo mine. Copper producers who are not in the moly business have no insight or conviction into moly fundamentals. That's a heavy lift to get past.
