@Tyronefart@PaulSkallas@PerryALPHA I fully agree that numbers are not an indicator of a movie's quality. However I do think there's something to glean from when a movie being re-released 10 years later is received with a ton of enthusiasm and passion. I'm not sure that's slop.
@000000marco@PaulSkallas I actually agree the cinema as a whole isn't great as it used to be. I've seen classics throughout the decades and Nolan's work stand well with many of the greats. Agree to disagree
@Tyronefart@PaulSkallas@PerryALPHA I apologize; I assumed you were operating from the OP's premise that "cinema is terrible now". You really think Interstellar is "slop" that is "forced unto the consumer"? It had a 10 year re-release last fall and did great numbers.
@Tyronefart@PaulSkallas@PerryALPHA If cinema is so bad right now, how are there "dozens" of better directors? would love to see this list of better directors
One aside: Mark Pope deserves an A for his first year. He led Kentucky to eight top 15 wins. Wildcats played a fun, high scoring style of basketball that fits 2025. They had players who came off incredibly likable. And Pope showed he can handle the SEC gauntlet. Strong season.
