Strong bipartisan agreement on opioids with House passage of #HR6. Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Centers (CORCs), workforce supports and job training services will be a catalyst for reforming the treatment system for #opioidusedisorder

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

Our Inspiration Grants program is aptly named – supporting amazing groups in the community driving change.

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

Last week #CALeg put patients first with the passage of #AB2384. The bill removes significant access barriers to medication for patients with #opioidusedisorder. Along w/ counseling & other psychosocial support services, medication is the best weapon we have in this fight. #MAT

Is ketamine as an antidepressant acting through the opioid system? Stanford data suggest yes. This is an area we have been testing for many years. https://t.co/NyXppW8NFf

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

Patients need to have access to all treatment options so they can benefit from the one that is right for them. #opioidepidemic

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

Federal dollars are important to address the #opioidepidemic, but along with that we need increased education on, and access to, all treatments, as well as new approaches to prevention, law enforcement and recovery support.

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

There are models to build on in the #opioidepidemic. Incremental progress in communities like Dayton, Ohio, is encouraging. Yet the vast majority of patients do not have access to all available treatment options.

72,000 opioid deaths in 2017. https://t.co/ZuvuhXZeVO Horrifying, but not surprising to those of us in the trenches. Do we need any more evidence that the current system is not working?

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

Important approval today. Transition from the hospital to the community can be a vulnerable time. A way to fully initiate treatment on a long-acting injectable for schizophrenia on day 1 allows treatment team to focus on other important elements of care. https://t.co/sqkv39j1KU

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

We were all struck by the wisdom and humanity of @robreiner today at #BIO2018. Opioid epidemic has affected his family’s lives and their art.

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

It’s clear: Medicines for opioid addiction are inadequate if they’re directed into a broken treatment system. To really help people battling this disease, the entire ecosystem must move from an acute to a continuous, long-term approach to treatment. #BIO2018

A million kids. A million more reasons why the #addiction community is working so hard to fight the opioid epidemic. This disease is wreaking havoc on American families – kids, spouses, parents and grandparents. https://t.co/Qbfs5ieMbe

[60 Minutes @60Minutes]

The opioid epidemic is leaving grandparents to raise grandchildren. A million children now live with their grandparents primarily due to their parents' addictions. https://t.co/gLl8oqh0rj

[Richard Pops @popsalks]

New approaches to prevent, treat and educate about substance use disorders are urgently needed to help curb the opioid epidemic. We are encouraging and supporting the next generation of researchers. https://t.co/HLUEAnF5Mr
