At the very least, Everton owe their frustrated fans some form of explanation for that chaotic, embarrassing and deeply disappointing transfer window. Yes, Jack’s back and Maitland-Niles is in (and earlier Hackney+). But The Friedkin Group, the club’s CEO Angus Kinnear and the recruitment committee owe it to fans - the lifeblood of the club - to justify/clarify/apologise for a situation which saw Balogun not sign, a star like Ndiaye leave, Beto go, Armstrong almost sold, and failed late attempts for Kirkzee, Abraham and Tete (nb also reluctance from their clubs).
Were they hoping for the Armstrong money to get players in? Or was it simply poor organisation, leaving things late? Everton look incredibly short of quality and numbers in attack and at full-back. So much to admire about Everton - manager, fanbase, stadium, academy, players like Pickford, Branthwaite, Garner, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong etc. But that was a poorly-handled transfer window and Everton fans have every right to be frustrated. #EFC
📢📢 - 1878s STATEMENT - 📢📢
We thought the potential sale of our biggest young talent was bad enough, but the last 24 hours has topped that.
On Saturday Moyes said "I don't think we can afford to lose any players, we need to stay as strong as we can” - Since then we have lost another 5 players (3 of them who have left play in areas we needed to strengthen in) and only brought 2 in.
To leave us with no back up full backs and just one striker is full on gross negligence, not forgetting we also lost one of our best players at an under valued price in today’s market in the process without replacing him too.
We stated on Sunday that we do not feel that our fanbase’s ambitions and the club’s ambitions align right now - what happened yesterday has proved that even more.
As a group we will still be standing down for the foreseeable future and will not be dedicating a huge amount of our own time to put together the displays that we do that try and generate the best pre match atmosphere possible.
To be clear, this is nothing against the signings we have made, we welcome them to the club and wish them the best of luck here.
However, like the rest of our fanbase, we are utterly disappointed and disgusted with how this transfer window has gone, especially the end of it.
Also for fans asking, just to reiterate - When we design flags, there are rules and regulations that we have to adhere to regarding the wording on our flags during displays, we are not allowed derogatory or offensive wording or images.
If we were able to get a load of flags in the ground to show our feelings of discontent, disappointment & anger over this whole situation, believe us, we would, but this is something that simply wouldn’t be allowed.
Despite how we all feel we still urge fans to get behind our team on the pitch for 90 mins like we did at Bournemouth on Saturday.
We will fully support any action the fanbase takes in reaction to this extremely poor transfer window.
OUR MOTTO IS THE STANDARD WE EXPECT!
The @premierleague’s continued hammering of EFC for PSR breaches already declared to have yielded no sporting advantage is so wildly out of kilter with its gentle slap on the wrist for Chelsea (and as yet nothing at all for City) as to be laughable. Corruption in plain sight.
Just watched Andy Burnham kicking off his campaign up in Ashton.
Proper straight talking, boots on the ground, no bullshit spin, just chatting to normal people like us.
I have never voted Labour in my life, but he comes across as a genuine fella. If he was standing round here he would definitely get my vote.
This is the kind of politics that actually feels real and people are properly fed up with the usual crap. Spot on. @AndyBurnhamGM
My wife’s car parked in the @asda car park Bromborough between 7am and 4pm today and some wonderful individual has bumped into her car and driven off without leaving any details if anyone has seen anything. Please let me know. Please RT thanks for your help
The message from the @premierleague couldn’t be clearer. If we think you’re an important part of our brand, we’ll only pretend to punish you. But if you’re Everton or Forest, guilty of a much lesser rules breach, we will try to relegate you. Transparent and indefensible
Any evertonians help me out please I’ve got season ticket sat in the upper south but I’m looking on taking someone who’s never been the game before but they can’t go on there own so looking for two tickets sat together for the Chelsea game can blues share this for me please 🔵💙
The bottom line is & always will be, Everton is an easy target. No outrage or coverage to the actions against us in national press like it would do to others. Even if Moyes doesn’t say it himself, the club should say we don’t want Kavanagh or Pawson being involved with our games
The manager and the club need to take a very strong stance against the same officials who seem to have an agenda against the club. If they don't, it will just keep happening week after week.
Hwang Hee-Chan stamps hard on Armstrong’s calf. Not deemed violent conduct, no red card. Michael Keane does a gentle Violet Elizabeth Bott impression. Straight red! Three-match ban. This sport is leaking credibility by the week @FA_PGMOL
👏 33rd minute tribute
Everton supporters’ groups are inviting fans to join in an applause when the clock ticks to 33:00 in memory of Stephen Jones, who tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident on Christmas Eve. Stephen, from Bootle, was a devoted dad to his eight-year-old son, a lifelong Evertonian and a grassroots football coach who made a positive difference to so many in his community.
