My notes say I have been birding, at home and abroad, for nearly 60 years. Should really be a lot better at it. Rediscovering the joys of Walthamstow Wetlands.
First Whooper Swans since 2017 highlight of November roundup on https://t.co/nc286zNtxo Golden Plover, Brambling & Pintail take year list to record 147 with a month to go. Thanks to @IvorHewstone@Chris_Farthing@Elliott81758817 for pics #londonbirding
Superlative needed. Prolonged views under the stars of an enigmatic species only discovered a decade ago. Couldn’t get better the 3 of us thought. And then an Arabian Wolf - the first seen by @westcoastbw in eight trips - casually walked across the road
Good in one way Oman trip coming to close as running out of superlatives. Holiday designed by @westcoastbw & @fatsnipe to deliver good views of Crab-Plover, top of my bucket list. Boy it delivered at Masirah. Leave it to Dave to wow with pro pics but these from my bridge camera!
Another sensational day. Egyptian Nightjar has been a mythical bird for me for decades and to see them around a desert oasis on a still, cloudless night was everything I could have wished for. And supporting cast was none too shabby!
It really was magic in Mudayy with incredible views of the Hypocolius and three species of sandgrouse. All in a morning around a tiny village! Thanks, Dave , for an unforgettable few hours.
A truly memorable day’s birding. Not just new species like Desert Owl in wonderful settings but so many birds to watch that you almost ignore Marsh & Terek Sands.
Amazing pics Mike. A magic sea-watch with treble figures of close Cory’s & Great Shearwaters. Makes up for those hours spent looking at an empty sea from St Agnes over the last 40 years.
The second ever Yellow-browed Warbler, Great & Cattle Egrets plus a tame Black-necked Grebe were among September bird highlights @E17Wetlands. Thanks to @Elliott81758817. @Chris_Farthing@sjnewton and MK, MLP & ADH for photos

Sad to pass on news that London birder and Scilly regular Sean Huggins has died. Sean was Middlesex recorder for many years and sat on the London Rarities Committee. We’ve been friends since we trained together as journalists and I will miss him. @LondonBirdClub#londonbirds
Ruddy Shelduck, Cattle Egrets and stunning pic of Peregrine carrying off a Kingfisher the highlights of August round-up @E17Wetlands now on https://t.co/nc286zNtxo Thanks to @Chris_Farthing@Elliott81758817@IvorHewstone@LolBodini and MLP for photographs

@BEACHYBIRDER Yes a wonderful place to visit even without the birds. We are already planning to go back and Arasaki will definitely be on the itinerary. See you in six months if you don’t find something good before
Feb round-up for @E17Wetlands delayed by a fabulous month in Japan. Not a birding trip but got time off for good behaviour from visiting gardens and palaces to enjoy Blakiston's Fish & Ural Owl, White-naped & Red-crowned Cranes & Red-flanked Bluetails. If you get the chance, go.
