We all know Oilers twitter could use some extra positivity. I’m just an optimistic Oilers fan that knows the best years are ahead of us.

I see a lot of "Nurse had super high SH% so his offence is unsustainable." Misleading.
Last 3 years he has third most 5x5 goals among Dmen. Avg. 5.5SH%.
His P/60 those years: 1.04, 1.14 and 1.19.
Steady increase.
You can question contract, but his offence has been consistent.

Unlucky deflection for Ethan Bear on the 'Hawks GWG last night.

But, IMO Bear and Kris Russell have been the Oilers 2 best D in the Qualifier vs Chicago.

Bear is playing over 23 mins/game in series.

He has done a terrific job on zone exits.

Bear is a keeper moving forward!

The obvious point here is if you need a right side shut down D, and you can trade Bear and replace him with a right side shut down D in UFA, then why not sign that shut down RHD, instead of Barrie, and keep the cost controlled young puck moving Bear?

Despite Munzenberger's relative anonymity as a prospect, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this was a bad pick.

2021 was an incredibly challenging year for scouts. The Oilers are taking a chance on a 6'2" D who can skate; obviously they think he slipped under the radar.

Further to Friedge's report: Word is that an eight-year contract for Hyman with the #oilers would come in a shade under the $5.125M AAV on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' recent deal.

A seven-year contract for Hyman would be closer to $5.5M AAV.
