@[email protected] ; Strange things happen at sea when you run a fleet of robot submarines in the Indian, Pacific & Southern Oceans. All opinions my own
@ProfPCDoherty @ConversationEDU@IMOS_AUS have just deployed 2 ocean gliders to observe this event
its very concerning
initial readings are 3-4C hotter than normal
right down to 100m deep
that's a phenomenal amount of extra energy

I'm exploring the wonderful world of 3rd party WMS (Web Map Service) layers
Here is a Shipping density map service layered on our glider piloting overview in SFMC
the mapping service is provided by Marine Traffic

@Qantas JETSTAR today. they have a NEW charge $12 per bag early checkin charge
If your late they cancell your booking
If your early they slug you extra
+$85 if your carry on is slightly over even if transferring from another airline who accepted the carry on on the same booking
Enough sun falls on the roof of the average suburban house in Australia to supply a surplus to their daily electricity needs
enough surplus to power their daily drive as well
@renew_economy LNG is worse than coal because of the fugitive emissions..
But the bad news is that new observations indicate that Coal is worse than Coal
because of under reported fugitive methane emissions
explore aerial shots of the source of high ch4 emissions

@CharlieJGardner I'm biased but. SUGARCANE (and other c4 plants) are fantastic at capturing atmospheric CO2
Sugar cane processing is already done on an industrialised scale and capturing in the order of a GT CO2 annually.
its just that the way we currently practice it we rerelease it all
@ChristineMilne@AlboMP Unfortunately Government generated "offsets", largely from the SE states, are USED in WA & QLD to greenwash gas expansion
ie: It's not that, WA & QLD letting the team down,
it's that much of the teams "progress" is vacuous fake offsets created as greenwash for the FF industry
@simonahac@GilesParkinson there's already been talk amongst ex WestWind employees (of which i am one) of buying it & retrofitting with modern equipment to extend its life.
out of respect late Geoff Hill , who ran westwind & was the most visionary man who just got on with it despite a coal obsessed govt
@simonahac@GilesParkinson It lasted nearly twice its design life and is only being replaced because they can no longer source parts
it could do another 20Y
in reality wind turbines get replaced because they become obsolete and the site is worth more than the turbine
@JaneCaro@simonahac@steveHPerthWA not only that i strongly suspect a fair bit of curtailment went on (ie excess wind & solar energy was removed from the grid in times of excess supply)
@JaneCaro@simonahac@steveHPerthWA for example the last 24H
in SA
Wind and solar provided >100% of the Required generation ALL day & ALL night (well there was a tiny blip of positive gas supply around 8pm but <<1% of the day) & that could have been supplied from batteries/ imports if the gas wasn't there anyway
@TheAusInstitute@GrogsGamut@JEChalmers Y axis abomination ! household per capita consumption down $8/wk from trend? or 3.5%
given post pandemic price gouging , rental and mortgage increases ect are running at > 3.5% isn't this just manifestation of the adage "you can't get blood out of a stone "
@DoctorKarl my feeling, as a old guy RE engineer from the day when we killed-it
your car will have its own electricity account (independent of where it is plugged in)
You also have an electricity account (perhaps attached to home solar)
you trade electricity real time between devices
@Object_Zero_ The electronic design solution is the default solution these days even it harsh environments where these systems perform poorly.
Not these passive solar trackers
they use differential heating to force refrigerant between cylinders on either side of the array.
@JenuineT2@dunne_insights over half of Tesla's evs lat year were made in china and that percentage us increasing.
ie Tesla IS a Chinese auto maker
