Missionary work is soaring to new heights. We are days away from the opening of 55 new missions. This brings the total number of missions to 506. There is a total of over 87,000 full-time missionaries. And we are currently being reinforced by the first wave of 18-year-old sisters beginning their service.
In coming weeks, we will have the largest number of full-time missionaries in the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
These missionaries’ first responsibility is to testify of Jesus Christ to a world that suffers without knowledge of His divine mission. They invite people across the globe to become part of His true and living Church.
I affirm my testimony of Jesus Christ and the truth of His gospel. The Holy Ghost has given me a witness of its truthfulness, and I rejoice that I can spend my life in proclaiming it.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released an implementation guide to help members and leaders prepare for the changes to the Sunday class meeting schedule that begin on September 6, 2026.
According to the guide, the changes, which include 25-minute classes and a new youth curriculum, are “an invitation to joyful, Christ-centered worship.”
Instructional videos will be available during the first week of August on https://t.co/N4raP7La8W. These will be viewed in a meeting about the new youth curriculum on August 30, and by all members on September 6.

Official today: Capital Weather is independent once again.
Twenty-two years after launching Capital Weather as an independent weather website for the DC area — and 18 years after first partnering with The Washington Post and becoming the Capital Weather Gang — we are independent again.
Today, we’re officially launching a new chapter at https://t.co/r3dKxepf5m and on our new mobile app. We are committed to making our core forecasts and updates free and accessible to everyone. Your support will make this possible.
Here is what we’ve built and how you can support us.
What we’ve built:
☀️ Around-the-clock forecasts and live updates
📧 Expanded newsletters
📱 A new Capital Weather app
🌦️ Interactive weather and climate tools
💬 A stronger community experience
🎙️ We will continue to provide forecasts on WAMU 88.5
How you can boost and sustain our independent launch:
• Support our work at https://t.co/jh1PQK6W7Q
• Download the Capital Weather app on iOS or Android
• Make Capital Weather your everyday weather source
• Share this post with friends and family across the DMV
Some of you have already joined our community and we could not be more grateful.
Since pioneering digital local weather coverage in 2004, we’ve believed weather is something we all experience together. Your questions, storm reports, photos, and conversations have helped shape Capital Weather into one of the nation’s leading regional weather communities.
Our mission remains the same as always: to be the most trusted everyday source for DC-area weather forecasts, breaking updates, and in-depth weather and climate news.
From sunny days to stormy days — and from Snowmageddon (2010) to Snowcrete (2026) — it’s been an incredible ride.
Thank you for being part of this community. We’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead.
WHOA! You've got to see this. This is the view looking northwest from Rochester, New York this evening. See that needle in the distance? That's not supposed to be there. But it is. You're looking at the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada over 100 miles away. The 1,815 foot observation tower should not be visible at this great distance. But under certain conditions, the bending of light can make it seem like it's right in front of you.
This is a spectacular example of a mirage. Layers of cool vs. warm air bend and warp light. It can distort objects, enlarge them, even make them feel like they're right in your backyard. Note how wonky the even sky looks adjacent to the CN Tower in this image. The mirage is affecting the clouds and sky as a whole. I've seen some strange mirages through the years and this is the most pronounced cases of the CN Tower I've captured.
“Jesus Christ is at the center of this house of the Lord, and so we’re grateful to be here, be part of this dedication,” said President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (@UchtdorfDF), Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who dedicated the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Springfield, Oregon, on Sunday, June 7, 2026. This is Oregon’s third house of the Lord.
More than 200 Latter-day Saints gathered inside Oregon’s newest temple for the dedication. The sacred event was also broadcast to hundreds of other faithful members at local meetinghouses in the temple district.

In a new video from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Geritt W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles explores “how to hear God’s voice clearly in an age of artificial intelligence (AI), and why that distinction matters more now than ever.”
“Can artificial intelligence replace God?” Elder @GerritWGong asks in the hour-long, gospel workshop video now available on YouTube. “That question may sound provocative, but in an age when we turn to algorithms for answers, guidance and even comfort, it matters deeply.”

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the groundbreaking date for the Huntsville Alabama Temple.
“God desires all of us to strive for His highest possible blessings by keeping His highest commandments, covenants, and ordinances, all of which culminate in His holy temples being built throughout the world,” President Dallin H. Oaks said in a recent general conference.

In July, the Church will open 55 new missions to accommodate a growing number of missionaries already called. The addition will bring the total number of missions to 506 and allow missionaries to better support the growing number of congregations worldwide.
“What we are witnessing today is more than growth in numbers,” Elder Dale G. Renlund (@DaleGRenlund) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in a May 2026 social post. “Across the world, missionaries are demonstrating a deep devotion to the Savior and a sincere consecration to His work. An increasing number express that their fundamental reason for serving is their love for Jesus Christ and their desire to join Him in His work — an inspiring reflection of the faith and commitment that characterize today’s missionary force.
“As the work goes forward, this is indeed a joyous and marvelous work and a wonder.”

As I mentioned during my general conference address Sunday morning, followers of Christ should follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers. In our families and other personal relationships, let us avoid what is harsh and hateful. Let us seek to be holy, like our Savior.
Truly, Jesus Christ is the way to peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come. He knows and loves each of us perfectly, and invites us to walk with Him, abide in Him, and follow His example of ministering to others one by one in charity and love.
We have been reminded of the central role of marriage and families in our Heavenly Father’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. May we demonstrate the pure love of Christ in our families, in our communities, and in all of our interactions with God’s children.

In his first public address as Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (@UchtdorfDF) shared a message of unity through Jesus Christ and invited listeners to participate now in the Savior’s “great and marvelous work.”
Speaking from the Cannon Activities Center on the BYU–Hawaii campus in Laie, Hawaii, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said that building Zion is like lifting a grand piano.
“Stand close together and lift where you stand, and nothing can keep this divine work from moving upward and forward,” he said.
“Trust in the Lord. Rejoice in Him. Put Him first in your life. Find the joy in serving Him. Believe that He will guide you.”

As Mary Magdalene and her companions mournfully approached the Garden Tomb, two angels appeared to them and shared the clarion call of all Christianity:
"Why seek ye the living among the dead?"
"He is not here, but is risen" (Luke 24:5-6).
This Easter season we also joyfully testify of this same eternal truth—Jesus Christ is risen. He lives!
The Savior of the world was crucified and, on the third day, rose from the dead, "the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthians 15:20). His Resurrection allows all to be resurrected, and through His grace, we can find peace "which passeth all understanding" (Philippians 4:7) and "be perfected in him" (Moroni 10:32).
We invite each of you during this Easter season to "seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written" (Ether 12:41). As you do so, we testify that your Easter celebrations can strengthen your own faith and testimony that "death is conquered; man is free. Christ has won the victory" ("He Is Risen!" Hymns, no. 199).

“I grew up just outside New Orleans. My parents joined the Church when I was two, so I’ve been in it my whole life, but mostly without a big Latter-day Saint community around me. Just family. Just faith. Just us.
“I went to college, lived in Utah for a while, and then came home. Now I work in healthcare and live close to where I grew up.
“The hardest thing I’m going through right now is figuring out where I fit in the Church. I’ve watched close friends, people who believed with me, who prayed with me, step away. And sometimes it makes me wonder why I’m still here when I wrestle with many of the same questions they do.
“I don’t have every answer. But my experiences with the Savior keeps me grounded. My family’s faith holds me up. And His love holds me together.
“I’m still here. Still believing. Still waiting for further light and knowledge. And for now that’s enough.” — Amy
