Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, undertook an official visit to the United States of America as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral maritime cooperation and defence relations between the two countries.
During his visit, the Naval Chief met with the U.S. Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Vice Admiral Yvette Davids, and the Acting Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr. Discussions during these meetings focused on matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics, professional training opportunities, and avenues for strengthening maritime collaboration.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf also visited the National Defense University (NDU), where he met with its President, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. At the U.S. State Department, he held a meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Stanley L. Brown from the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. The interactions covered a wide range of topics including politico-military cooperation, maritime security, capacity building, and shared maritime interests.
Additionally, the Naval Chief addressed a gathering of U.S. scholars and think-tank experts, where he discussed regional maritime security challenges and highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s contributions to collective maritime initiatives.
The visit underscores the enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and the United States and reaffirms their mutual commitment to promoting maritime security and stability in the region and beyond.
