On April 24 and 25, the #exhibition “#Extractivism & #Resistance in the #Ecuadorian#Andes and Beyond” in #Marburg offered visitors insights into global commodity supply chains, tracing them all the way to a community in northern Ecuador.
The exhibition highlighted the impacts on land, water, and communities — and how people confront these challenges in their daily lives through diverse forms of resistance.
The Think Lab featured an input by Dr. Jannis Julien Grimm, on the topic “Trial by Fire - Gaza as a Stress Test for Academic Integrity”, which encouraged participants to reflect on questions of academic integrity and the reproduction of power hierarchies within academia.
Under the title “Researching Postcolonial Hierarchies in Conflictive Times: Entanglements, Power Hierarchies and Academic Integrity in German Institutions”, participants discussed the challenges of conducting postcolonial and critical research.

A wide range of forms of resistance is considered, from artistic and aesthetic interventions and civil society engagement to journalistic and legal work in repressive contexts.
