We’ll share updates as bargaining progresses. Solidarity matters, and so does accountability. In the meantime, please send a letter to Washington Post management telling them you stand with Post Tech workers: https://t.co/DePQfuoMlv
To our colleagues: we’re fighting for you.
To leadership: the path forward is clear. Work with us in good faith and do right by the people who make this work possible.
As we head into bargaining, we’re focused on outcomes that protect workers: fair severance, real options for those who want to remain, and dignity for everyone affected.
Our members power the systems that keep journalism running — from publishing tools to infrastructure to reader experiences used by millions. They deserve transparency, respect, and good-faith negotiations.
These layoffs never should have been attempted in the first place. But now that we’re here, the company has a responsibility to do what’s right for the people who built and sustain The Post’s technology.
Tomorrow, the Washington Post Tech Guild enters effects and decisional bargaining over the company’s illegal attempted layoffs of 76 of our colleagues. Our goal is to secure the best possible deal for our members: both those who want to stay and those who choose to leave.
Thank you for acknowledging our talented colleague, Mikaela. Gutting quality sports coverage makes little sense and leaves people with less.
It’s not too late to #SaveThePost, @JeffBezos.
I want to sincerely thank one of the great writers out there, @barrysvrluga, who will sadly be closing this chapter with the @washingtonpost…you have covered the highs and lows of my career with integrity and passion. Thank you. Looking forward to following your next chapter.🙏
The @PostGuild's data is the latest example in the years-long unraveling of the news industry’s promises to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion after George Floyd’s killing and the ensuing “racial reckoning” of 2020. https://t.co/xksrhnb1Bs
This shows the true scope of these layoffs — and it’s deeper than numbers on a page.
These numbers aren’t just statistics. They reflect careers, communities, and a profound shift in who gets to shape the journalism and mission of The Washington Post.
Washington #Nationals president of baseball ops Paul Toboni opened a video call with media bemoaning loss of the Post sports department and ball writers Andrew Golden, Spencer Nusbaum, Chelsea Janes and Barry Svrluga, while noting the San Francisco Chronicle's role in his youth.
We will continue to bargain with the hope that these cuts are rescinded and the demand that management agrees to a humane separation package. #SaveThePost
After decimating the organization, we are bargaining per our contract with management. We have featured testimonials from Post employees. Here’s some of them had to say. Here’s what these layoffs have done to us. #SaveThePost 🧵
