@rightwingnutrs There's something about them that makes goycattle turn their pea brains off. I watched an insane love triangle form between two objectively good looking guys over a fat, bitchy Latina.
@Planasthai_@Jaccusepaper Is this ironic? Sure. Was the NSA listening in to everything? Probably. But it was freer than anything else I had in my youth, where everything was mediated by Responsible Chaperones.
@Planasthai_@Jaccusepaper This is silly. Regardless of whether the internet was made to be a free place or made to communicate the latest scientific insights into nuclear bombs, it was the most free place in the context of creeping global surveillance and regulation.
I will never, ever stop believing that liberal democracy and human rights are worth fighting for, and here's why.
It is the easiest thing in the world to say that those people over there don't need human rights. It's so, so easy to do this. "They don't deserve it. They don't need it. They're happier without it. Society is better overall if they don't have it." Easy, easy, easy.
But EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON in the entire world wants human rights for themselves and their children. Without exception.
Every single person on earth wants justice if their loved one is murdered. Every single person on earth wants to be able to hold their government accountable if the government steals their home, wages, or land.
Every single person on earth wants to be able to speak freely to other people about injustices they or their children have personally suffered.
Those arguments you're hearing about why liberal democracy isn't all it was cracked up to be? It's all crap. It's steaming garbage repeated by people who believe that it will be other people, not themselves, who have to give up these rights.
I know this beyond a shadow of a doubt. It is my lighthouse in a world increasingly shrouded in choking, blinding fog.
@Montagnard95134 And of course it's museum-piece Europe; countries like Hungary or Poland that have basically been outside the progress of History, which makes it even more ominous.
Saw a Farage clip where he's pushing "vote Labour, get Chaos."
I think it's good practice to attack the competence of centrists in the west. Their authority rests on little else.
@blancmontagnard Best part of this disaster tweet is how the real problem for her is the inconvenience of being interrogated by the cops, and her lingering suspicion that the boyfriend did it to get her arrested.
@esotericaus That's not a unicycle. Anyone who looks at it for a second will realize it's not a unicycle. What has happened to journalism and the English language?
