Theme: The Fundamental Commandments of Islam: Foundations of Faith, Morality and Human Dignity
{۞ قُلۡ تَعَالَوۡا۟ أَتۡلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ أَلَّا تُشۡرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَیۡـࣰٔاۖ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنࣰاۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوۤا۟ أَوۡلَـٰدَكُم مِّنۡ إِمۡلَـٰقࣲ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُكُمۡ وَإِیَّاهُمۡۖ وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوا۟ ٱلۡفَوَ ٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۖ وَلَا تَقۡتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفۡسَ ٱلَّتِی حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ}
"Say, Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason".
LESSONS:
1. Tawḥīd Is the Foundation of All Guidance
The first command is to worship Allah alone and avoid associating partners with Him. This teaches that every aspect of faith, morality and civilization begins with recognizing the absolute sovereignty of Allah. A sound relationship with the Creator is the foundation upon which all other obligations are built.
2. Excellence Towards Parents Is a Sacred Duty
Immediately after the command to worship Allah comes the command to treat parents with kindness. This highlights the immense status of parents in Islam and teaches that gratitude to those through whom Allah brought us into existence is among the greatest acts of worship.
3. Poverty Is Never a Justification for Taking Life
Allah prohibits killing children out of fear of poverty and reassures humanity that provision comes from Him. This principle extends beyond pre-Islamic infanticide and teaches Muslims to trust Allah, value human life and reject every ideology that treats human beings as disposable because of economic hardship.
4. Sin Must Be Avoided in Public and Private
The verse prohibits all forms of immorality, whether open or hidden. Islam therefore does not merely regulate outward behavior; it seeks to purify the heart, intentions and private conduct. A believer is expected to fear Allah both when observed by people and when alone.
5. Human Life Is Sacred
The unlawful taking of life is among the gravest crimes in Islam. This verse establishes the sanctity of human life and makes it clear that no individual has the right to kill another except through lawful justice. Terrorism, murder, banditry, kidnapping and all forms of unlawful violence stand in direct contradiction to this divine command.
These commandments are not isolated rulings; they form the ethical foundation of a healthy society:
Worship Allah alone.
Honour your parents.
Protect children.
Avoid immorality.
Preserve human life.
Together, they safeguard faith, family, morality and society itself.
Allah concludes the verse by saying: "This has He instructed you that you may use reason."
True intelligence is not merely the accumulation of knowledge. It is recognizing divine guidance and allowing it to shape one's beliefs, character and actions.

URGENT APPEAL FOR HELP.
DEAR EVERYONE,
We humbly appeal to kind-hearted individuals, organizations, and members of the public to come to the aid of this young widow and her three children.
During the holy month of Ramadan, while preparing Sahoor for her family, a pot of hot water accidentally poured on her arm, causing a severe burn injury. What started as a painful accident has become a prolonged struggle because she could not afford proper medical treatment and wound care. As a result, the wound has worsened, leaving her in constant pain and making it difficult for her to work and provide for her children.
This mother is raising three children alone after the loss of her husband. Sadly, despite the existence of family farmland and other shared properties that her late husband had with his siblings that could have helped support her and her children, she has been denied access to these resources, this happened because she refused pressure from the family of her late husband to remarry her late husband’s stepbrother.
This situation is even more sad and heartbreaking because her husband also died from fire accident complications.
Today, she faces two urgent challenges:
Medical treatment and wound care to help her recover and heal properly.
Financial support to start a small business or employment so she can provide food, education, and basic necessities for her three children and regain her independence.
I have been the only one taking care of her since her husband demise last year, it became more intense and too much on me when the fire accident happened and I cannot continue doing this alone.
Her hand is getting so bad, the smell is so bad too that I had to hold my breath to take these pictures with her. And I want to do everything possible I can do for her before I leave Nigeria back to the UK.
No amount is too small. Every contribution will make a meaningful difference in helping this widow rebuild her life and secure a better future for her children.
We sincerely appeal to everyone to show compassion and extend a helping hand during this difficult time.
