@itsjolyne someone called her out for wearing a burzum shirt and all she replied was “seethe” 😭 sorry but the girl never left the chud phase behind entirely
@bengrossbg There are parts of Tales of the Mighty Dead that explain Inferentialism’s differences between other kinds of isms that is really nice to help understand what Inferentialism is doing and say what classical rationalism or empiricism does differently
@bengrossbg As the book develops across the first two parts, the parts on Pragmatics and Semantics, it basically is more or less a rehash of the very minimal system Brandom established in Making It Explicit but read out of Hegel
I had a dream last night I moved to Pittsburgh and I was walking around talking to strangers looking at old buildings and thinking “Wow this is all so wonderful… I was born for this”
When I was a graduate student, I mentioned something about Marxism to another student. He replied, “Oh, I don’t know anything about Marxism. I study logic.” I think about that a lot.
Quine: “content is exhausted by publicly available dispositions to assent under shared stimulus”
Analytic philosophers: “aww, how sweet”
Carnap: “content is exhausted by publicly available dispositions to assent under shared stimulus”
Analytic philosophers: “uhm, HR?!?!”
@khalilacp@TuttReal I am not doing that and I would not commit to the idea that a social-historical-material critique in general is dogmatic. I’m saying that Glouscard reasserting the very thing D&G argue against, without arguing against the content of their argument is dogmatic
@khalilacp@TuttReal Oh i think specifically Glouscard’s point is dogmatic critic, a reassertion of what Deleuze is critiquing without engaging with the substance of his argument is dogmatic, because it does not actually contradict it in content, but only in form
@TuttReal@khalilacp It’s not that I don’t think those kinds of conditions don’t have any bearing, but always framing them from a strictly external dialectical point of view often fails to meet the immanent criteria of derivation and criticism demanded by immanent critique
@TuttReal@khalilacp But a dogmatic reassertion of historical and material conditions is something I find a lot of Marx sympathetic critics do to sidestep the metaphysical, explanatory, and methodological differences without engaging in the substance of argument
