This is my cat Leo. He died from hunger in Gaza.

After he passed away, it felt as if he sent these cats to me so I could care for them.

After my cat Leo died from hunger and famine in Gaza, I feel as if he sent me other cats to care for.

Today, I look after more than three cats. I provide them with food and water, and care for them every day.

I couldn’t save Leo, but I am doing everything I can to prevent these cats from suffering the same fate.

Every time I feed them, I remember Leo.

And every time I look at them, I feel as if Leo left me a small promise to keep:
to take care of them and never let them face hunger alone.

Growing up in the US before I learned much history, I always thought Israel was this tiny little country in the Middle East desperately trying to keep Jews safe.
