@thatsawinner15 @BaseballWRLD_ This season yes, he’s been hit 10 more times this year than last year in 1 less game, but he’s also drawn 8 more walks so far (played 107 last year, 106 so far this year) he’s legit pretty good at getting on base.

He still has to work on his game and exposing him to mlb pitching at this point would further set him back. Plus the uncertainty around next is even more reason to leave him in the minors for the rest of the year

@TheRedbirdWay @The_Ryan_Shull Not even trying to be funny but have you not heard how things are going for Baez? In zone contact is abysmal, chase rate, can’t hit high fastball. He has a severe hole in his swing and is hitting 186 in July. He’s nowhere close to promotion

@TheRedbirdWay @The_Ryan_Shull You can’t ever have enough pitching but the cardinals have so much pitching talent close to graduating. Our bigger need is lineup pieces. I don’t see who in the next 2 years would be up with us that would result in Herrera not being in the every day lineup.

Herrera is in the 80 percentile in batting value during a down year with multiple years of control left. Add to it he’s a rhb which is the most desired thing in baseball right now…he’d get a pretty good return

@vancemeek @kennygsbuttplug The position they play is the “replacement” part of “wins above replacement”…removing defense from the equation and you can replace Sal with half the leagues First basemen and be better off. You can only say that about a few 2B with regards to JJ

1. look at the OPS+, essentially the same hitter
2. Look at other 1B and look at other 2B. Their value is partly tied to position. JJ 4th best off 2B, Sal middle of the road off 1B
