I think deep down we need to see them, as we are the few with eyes far enough to see it. Go on FB and your average boomer who’s at the town courthouse celebrating the pride flag being raised hasn’t seen a modicum of the horrors we have.

My first girlfriend’s mom gave us the basement to do whatever we wanted. At the time, it was great. Didn’t have to sneak around in cars. Just a full on den to rut like a stag.

But then again her mom OD’d on sky vodka a couple years later so I think we call assume she was an outlier in this study.

It starts at the home. My daughter is ten, almost 11. I’ve dressed her in pro American hoodies from places like Gettysburg or DC, traveled the nation and put its National Parks on a pedestal. Talk about its history and its strong position in the world today.

We live right next to a revolutionary war battlefield, I’ve spent time driving around to all the points where the British forded a river to outflank the continental army then 30 minutes to Valley Forge to continue the story.

How much she retains or doesn’t isn’t up to me, but in this house we stand up for the anthem, we learn about patriotic moments and people and when she had to learn about slavery in school I’d spend equal time discussing the deeper truths omitted by the school system.

Dunkirk in real life didn’t see a lot of fighting. It was a flotilla and a pretty damn cool one at that… but that doesn’t make it film worthy and his insistence to show three different timelines (one hour, one day, one week or whatever it was) doesn’t make it anywhere near worthwhile.

But a Brit being proud of a huge prole Brit win… I won’t interfere with too much.

@shortmagsmle I have terrible handwriting. Always have. I asked my mom one time about it. She simply said “you simply don’t have time for it”.

It was kinda profound to me. My brain is already moving on to the next thing, the next thought, the next sentence.

But when snow is falling outside H8 is like a warm blanket.
