Great to see our collaboration w/ @BostonDynamics unlocking new capabilities! Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6 enables robots like Spot to read complex industrial gauges autonomously. Exciting step toward robots that can understand & operate usefully in the physical world
Excited to partner with Agile Robots! Looking forward to seeing our models being deployed through Agile Robots incredible platform to help solve some of the most complex industrial challenges

Complementary to Gemini Robotics -- the massive vision-language-action (VLA) model released yesterday -- we also investigated how far we can push Gemini for robotics _purely from simulation data_ in Proc4Gem: 🧵
We’ve always thought of robotics as a helpful testing ground for translating AI advances into the physical world. Today we’re taking our next step in this journey with our newest Gemini 2.0 robotics models. They show state of the art performance on two important benchmarks - generalization and embodied reasoning - which enable robots to draw from Gemini’s multimodal understanding of the world to make changes on the fly + adapt to their surroundings. This milestone lays the foundation for the next generation of robotics that can be helpful across a range of applications.
Meet our AI-powered robot that’s ready to play table tennis. 🤖🏓
It’s the first agent to achieve amateur human level performance in this sport. Here’s how it works. 🧵
Soccer players have to master a range of dynamic skills, from turning and kicking to chasing a ball. How could robots do the same? ⚽
We trained our AI agents to demonstrate a range of agile behaviors using reinforcement learning.
Here’s how. 🧵 https://t.co/RFBxLG6SMn
New research from @GoogleDeepMind brings together soccer and robotics. Using reinforcement learning, robots display agile and reactive movements similar to a soccer player, no shin guards needed:) https://t.co/K0WgdiIL10

.@ilyasut on why OpenAI gave up on robotics:
"Progress comes from the combination of compute and data.
There was no path to data from robotics.
I'd say that now it is possible to create a path forward, but one needs to really commit.
You could imagine a gradual path of improvement where you build more robots, they do more things, you collect more data and so on.
But you need to really love robots and need to be really willing to solve all the physical and logistical problems of dealing with them.
It's not the same as software at all."
We’re expanding Experience AI, an introductory course with @RaspberryPi_org for 11-14 year old students to learn about foundational AI.
It's now being rolled out 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, providing interactive & responsible lessons to empower a new generation. 🌏https://t.co/GzzyETzlxL

OpenLLaMA-13B released‼️
OpenLLaMA aims to train Apache-licensed “drop in” replacement for Meta’s LLaMA models. They have been trained for 1T tokens on RedPajama dataset.
Given the popularity of models based on LLaMA-13B, this one should be quite useful.

As an AI-first company, I'm so excited for what's coming, including Gemini, the new Google DeepMind foundation model in training that will have impressive multimodal capabilities not seen in prior models. Can't wait to share more in the future! #GoogleIO
I absolutely enjoyed talking robots and AI with Scott Pelley and 60 minutes, but full credit goes to the @DeepMind Robotics team for the great research that turned these little OP3s into soccer pros!
