I believe I said it before, but I'll say it again. I'll bring live vocal artist events back to Cape Town.
The best they've ever been.
With Cottonfest gone, there's huge opportunity, I'm just a couple months away from capturing majority market share.
Waiting for someone else to set up your business costs you more than time.
The FNB account for Faneto needed to be opened. A representative was supposed to come to the house and walk through everything. I waited. They took their time. The week moved on without that piece being resolved.
The mistake is not that they did not show up. The mistake is that I built a dependency into my timeline that I had no control over. A content marketing system for consultants lives and dies by its ability to move without waiting for external permission. That same principle applies to every part of the build.
You cannot build an inbound system on an outbound timeline.
Going to the bank myself this week. Not because it is the most efficient option, but because removing the dependency is worth more than the convenience.
What is one process in your business right now that only moves when someone else decides to move it?

Camera in hand. Mum's space. Decor everywhere.
Some weeks the work looks like spreadsheets and follow-up emails. And then some weeks it looks like this.
Showing up for someone who showed up for you first. That is not a detour. That is the point.

Budget plan outstanding. Marketing plan outstanding. Operational plan updated.
That is the list going into Friday. A May 2nd event with a 450-capacity venue confirmed, and the marketing strategy that should be driving ticket sales is still being written.
This is the reality of building a YouTube authority brand and an events company at the same time. The work does not pause because the calendar is filling up. The deliverables stack. The priorities compete.
The marketing plan is the one that matters most right now. Everything else feeds off it. Ticket sales, DJ positioning, MC briefing, promotional content, all of it sits downstream of a strategy that does not exist yet on paper.
This is the part nobody talks about. The pile of open tasks that has to be carried while the public-facing output keeps moving.
How do you decide what to prioritise when everything feels urgent at the same time?

Club Paradise confirmed. First venue I went after.
Capacity is around 450. The goal is to fill it up. There is no plan B on that.
Getting your first choice venue is not always how it goes. You make peace with alternatives, you adjust the vision slightly, you work with what is available. This time the outcome matched the original intention exactly.
The work behind it was real. Outreach, follow-up, a formal pitch. None of that was passive.
One venue locked. Now every other piece of this event has a stage to be built around.
What is the one thing on your list right now that you are not willing to compromise on?

Managing outreach, events, two businesses, and DJ follow-ups is not a content problem. It is a capacity problem.
I have been watching this week and the one before it. The pattern is the same. Too much time is going into logistics and follow-up that someone else could own. Meanwhile, the marketing plan for the event is still sitting unfinished because the hours keep getting absorbed elsewhere.
Two options were on the table. Continue absorbing all of it and accept that the marketing suffers. Or bring in a coordinator, take the operational load off, and actually build the content strategy that this event needs.
The answer is obvious. But obvious and easy are not the same thing. Hiring means trusting someone else to represent what you have built. That is a different kind of risk to manage.
The decision is to move toward bringing someone in. A coordinator or operational manager who owns the follow-up and logistics so the focus can go back to the personal brand for agency owners and the marketing that actually drives the outcome.
At what point did you realise you needed someone in that operational seat?

Two businesses. One week. Still not stopping.
Tuesday looks like this: research vault open on one screen, content batch recording scheduled for the afternoon, Faneto operational docs in a separate tab, and a DJ follow-up list that still needs to be worked through before the end of the week.
This is what done-for-you content actually costs on the builder side. Not just the deliverable, but the infrastructure underneath it. The strategy, the research, the system that makes the output consistent.
Most people see the content. They do not see the hours before it.
Right now the vault is growing. The batch is being recorded. The work is happening, even when it is not clean or linear.
What does your build week actually look like when nobody is watching?

100 outreach messages. Zero people saw the asset walkthrough I sent.
I built the sequence. Wrote the copy. Attached the Loom. Sent it to just over a hundred prospects across the month.
I thought the system was running. Checked the numbers. Nothing was converting the way it should. Went back to find out why.
The link was private. The entire time. Nobody could access it. Every single message landed with a broken asset attached and I had no idea.
The lesson is not about the Loom link. It is about the gap between thinking your client acquisition system is working and actually verifying that it is. In organic lead generation, one broken step can silently kill an entire campaign before you realise it is gone.
Now every outreach asset gets a live check before a single message goes out. No exceptions.
How many of your systems are running on assumption rather than verification?

Two businesses. One week.
Agency outreach going out. A content brand resuming. An events company registered and now actually moving. A research vault being built in the background for something that pays off much later.
This is what the build looks like from the inside.

This event marketing plan is the most serious thing I've put together.
Not because the event is the biggest thing I've done, but because it's the first time I'm applying everything deliberately. Every framework studied. Every angle tested through Nobu and Back2Back. Content that converts across multiple touchpoints, positioning, audience sequencing, all of it pointed at one outcome.
It's a test. Not of the event, but of where my marketing thinking actually is right now.
That's what makes it uncomfortable. You can tell yourself you understand something until you have to prove it against a real deadline with real consequences. April is not a hypothetical. The budget is confirmed. The audience needs to show up.
The plan is going to be heavy. That's the point.
If you've built a marketing plan for a live event, what was the piece that surprised you most?

I confirmed the budget before I confirmed the venue.
The event is targeting April. The budget conversation happened, we aligned, and that felt like real progress. It was. But a confirmed budget with no confirmed venue is just a number sitting in a document. Venue outreach only started this week. That should have been running in parallel, not after.
The gap between those two things is now pressure that didn't need to exist. More options at better prices were available earlier. That window is narrower now.
In organic lead generation and event planning alike, the bottleneck is almost never the thing you're focused on. It's the thing you assumed was already handled.
I'm not behind yet. But the sequencing was wrong, and the sequencing has a cost.
Name the assumption before it becomes the constraint.

Faneto is registered.
That's the events business. It's been structured in my head long before it existed on paper. The company registration came back accepted this week. A bank rep from FNB is coming out in the next few days to sort the account, which I didn't expect. They send someone to you. The tax certificate is the last piece outstanding.
None of this is the exciting part of building something. Nobody talks about registration paperwork and waiting on certificates. But it matters because everything that comes after, the April event, the venue contracts, the marketing plan, all of it is cleaner when the business behind it is properly structured.
The event budget is confirmed. Venue outreach is live. The build is real now.
Registration doesn't mean the hard part is done. It means the hard part now has a legal entity behind it.

Back2Back had been quiet for a while. Then a cafe reached out.
Just Shift wanted me to come record there. I hadn't planned on that being the thing that started Season 3, but the timing was right, the space worked, and waiting for conditions I controlled entirely wasn't moving anything forward.
We went. We shot. The content exists now.
What I noticed is that the projects that stall the longest are rarely waiting on resources. They're waiting on a trigger. Something external that makes the cost of not doing it higher than the cost of doing it. I wasn’t going to shoot sooner if that trigger wasn’t there. The cafe reaching out was that trigger.
YouTube authority for a brand like Back2Back doesn't build in isolation. It builds through consistent output, and sometimes consistent output restarts because someone else creates the conditions for it.
What's a project you've been sitting on that just needs a trigger to move?

Most research disappears the moment you get busy.
I've always gone deep before I move. Before Nobu, before any of this, I spent serious time learning marketing component by component. Hooks. Positioning. Audience psychology. Platform mechanics. That's the type of person I am. I want a full picture before I commit.
The problem is knowledge without a system degrades. You learn something valuable, you move on, and two months later you're searching for something you already knew.
So, I made a decision this week. I'm building a vault, everything saved by topic onto a USB. Hooks get their own folder. Positioning gets its own folder. Each sector built out properly over time. It's going to take a long time to fill. That's fine.
The alternative is building a client acquisition system on knowledge that lives only in my head and disappears every time things get busy.
Do you have a system for storing what you learn, or does most of it just disappear?
