I'm waiting my turn (left) to interview Johnny Bench (center) after NBC's Tony Kubek (right), following the Cincinnati Reds' World Series sweep of the Yankees in 1977.
(3/4) I got nominated for a Pulitzer Prize along the way. I'll take you on a journey that chronicles many of the biggest stories of my career, from the Olympics, earthquakes, a deadly riot in Pamplona Spain, a near-death experience covering a hurricane in Hawaii and much more.
(2/4) At 20 I moved from a grocery store delivery boy to a sportswriter for my hometown newspaper in Terry, Montana. After gaining experience at Montana newspapers in Miles City, Helena and Billings, I joined the AP in Cincinnati before moves to San Diego, LA, Denver and Vegas.
(1/4) I am in the final stages of completing my memoirs titled "The Power of the Patch". It spans my early years: my father died when I was 10 and my right eye was removed at 11.
I gave up. Lost all hope.
Hello friends. Well, I'm back, this time on X, after a a medical hiatus.
My thanks to @johnnykats John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal for this article today.
