January 2019. Fresh out of my Tesla interview, an engineer walked me to the end of the line at Fremont.
Model S refresh was in full swing. Engineers huddled. Problems being solved in real time. An energy I’d never felt on a factory floor before.
Four weeks later, I was part of it.
Model S and Model X didn’t just change cars. They changed what we believed was possible and single-handedly made EVs mainstream.
To Model S & Model X, you inspired me and a whole generation of engineers.
Adios, What a run.
The 2027 Tesla Model Y L has a longer wheelbase, six-seat layout, more third-row space, and up to 325 miles of range. Here's everything to know before we drive it. https://t.co/SeN6VoY6FY
The Model Y L has the best sound system of any Model Y trim. It has 19 speakers (including the subwoofer), plus a dedicated rear center speaker that makes the listening experience in the 2nd row much better than the short wheelbase Model Y.
Big bass sound that can hit the low frequencies, no rattles, not muddy, and perfectly balanced. Even the 3rd row sounds pretty good. The sound team really nailed it with this.
Our first Megapacks with Made-in-America LFP cells are on their way to customers! 🇺🇸
These domestic cells are manufactured at our facility in Sparks, Nevada and integrated into Megapacks from our Megafactory in California. This is a significant milestone for domestic cell manufacturing and energy security
The most unbiased reviewer in the game can't help but rave about @Tesla when covering the new Model Y L
"The level of integration is insane. You're not just getting a car with cool features, you're getting an entire ecosystem with the incredible Supercharger network and many other benefits that are just not talked about enough" - @itskyleconner
Second row: Captains chairs are my favorite seat configuration and this didn’t disappoint. Not as much space in the pass thru and footwell as the X but seating comfort was probably slightly better in the second row of the YL. Honestly, second row felt just as comfortable as the first row which is a huge improvement from the bench Y.
Adjustable arm rest is a nice touch, plus ventilation in the second row! They have also added adjustable head rest cushions to the first and second row which I LOVED! I want these haha.
It takes a trained eye to notice the difference between the Y and YL which really surprised me! No awkward angles or a bad “stretched” look; and yes it does look even better in person haha.
It’s impressive how much extra interior space they were able to add without drastically changing the look of the car.
Here’s my overview of the North American version of the Model Y L. Overall, it's an awesome vehicle that I think will appeal to a lot of families in the U.S.
The third row space will surprise you, the second row is the most comfortable that Tesla has ever offered, it has some premium features that even the 6-seat Model X didn't even offer, and the sound system is the best of any Model Y. It is very well built.
Deliveries start in September.
@aakashgupta The US national anthem was played at the Paraguay v Türkiye match I attended at Levi Stadium. It was played before the teams arrived on the pitch, followed by their respective national anthems. It’s not new. It’s just that Jennifer Hudson will perform it live.
