π Big update from Meta for all Meta advertisers (Facebook & Instagram):
Meta just announced a major simplification to ad measurement with their new Click-Through Attribution and Engage-Through Attribution models.
Whatβs changing?
Click-through attribution for website and in-store conversions will now only count actual link clicks (the ones that take users to your site/landing page).
Previously, it included all interactions like likes, shares, saves, etc. This change brings Metaβs reporting much closer in line with third-party tools like Google Analytics β reducing those frustrating discrepancies weβve all dealt with.
Non-link social interactions (likes, shares, saves, comments) are now cleanly separated into Engage-Through Attribution (formerly Engaged-View). Meta is strongly encouraging advertisers to use this to better understand the unique value of social-first engagement.
Theyβve also shortened the engaged view window for video/Reels from 10 seconds to 5 seconds β smart move, especially since 46% of online purchase conversions from Reels happen within the first 2 seconds of attention.
Why this matters:In a world where social media has overtaken search as the top ad spend channel, these changes give us clearer, more actionable insights. Better alignment + visibility into true social impact = smarter budget allocation and optimization.
Huge thanks to the teams at Northbeam and Triple Whale for partnering to integrate both clicks and views into their models.
What do you think β are you excited about cleaner data, or concerned about short-term reporting shifts?
Iβll be monitoring how this rolls out in our campaigns. Drop your thoughts below π

@AnthonyHigman Very clever.
You realize that this doesn't at all say that advertisers will be forced into AI max, but you gave the impression that I should read your post because all advertisers will be forced into AI max by next quarter.
Fundamentally dishonest, but clever.
