When you have to store sensitive data, you can use #dotnet#csharp Data Protection API to encrypt them. It's helpful, and you get a lot of features out of the box like key management key rotation, and various options for storing keys.

In Poland we have some centralized, maintained by government portal for storing medical data from all medical providers. So we need to push data there rather than retrieving. So patients can have overall view-but still not all of the data are sent there
@CFDevelop now we have more scenarios than couple years ago- being forced often thanks to regulations, compliance etc, to exchange data with government using specific standards like FIHR for example. I think that this is main enabler not the purity of its principles:)
