In the past few years (since 2016) i got increasingly convinced that retrieval augmanted generation is the most central problem of strong general AI. Despite the amazing work done in the past 7 years, it is still the most central question.

Just look at what science is about: finding more and more obscure connections between areas that are less and less obviously connected. This "detective work" involves long association chaines and mental modeling interleaved with thorough information collection.

Performing this does not even come easy to humans and we need decades of training to learn doing it well.

This involved process is true RAG and nothing published so far has come close to addressing it well.

1/ more data (more text, or incl raw vids and photos)
2/ increase the model size (same data, but on a model that takes up more space)
3/ different training (train the model to do things instead of only to predict the next thing)
