As the initiator of the Loss and Damage Fund during my tenure as Chair of G77 & China at COP27, it's gratifying to see its operational launch at COP28. Applause to the UAE for leading a formidable beginning and for catalyzing pivotal strides toward climate equity and remediation. The initial pledges mark progress, but they are mere stepping stones towards the substantial support required by the climate-vulnerable Global South. This Fund must grow rapidly in scale and efficacy to be fully financed.
