Thailand’s continued detention of 18 Cambodian prisoners of war violates Article 118 of the Third Geneva Convention, which states:
“Prisoners of war shall be released and repatriated without delay after the cessation of active hostilities.”
There is no legal or moral justification for delaying their return to Cambodia. They are protected under international law. Extended detention may convert lawful combatants into political hostages. Thailand must uphold its obligations and release them now!

Ministry of Defense spokesperson: As of now, the Thai side has not returned the 20 Cambodian soldiers to Cambodia yet.
Last night, under mounting pressure from the United States, the Thai government reportedly agreed to return the 20 Cambodian soldiers it captured in after ceasefire with the cheapest tactic. The decision was seen as a step toward restoring trust and easing tensions following a week of deadly clashes between the two countries.
However, as of noon today, the situation remains unresolved. According to a report by CNC, the Cambodian troops have not yet been returned. Cambodian officials and military personnel have been waiting patiently at the designated border point since early morning, prepared to receive their men.
The 20 soldiers were captured by Thai forces after a deceptive maneuver during the ceasefire period. Cambodian authorities and international observers have described the act as a violation of both the ceasefire terms and international humanitarian law.
