@michaelshermer People are often more complex than we're willing to admit. I agree some of these claims belie belief. But the ICIG thought his earlier claims had some merit. He may be a bit gullible as well.
@JoJoFromJerz Can you talk about their legal claims? My understanding is it's really hard to prove defamation with public officials because. They are constantly discussed and criticized; you have free speech rights.
@jordanbrun0@DrBeaVillarroel@MickWest@StephPhenomena@BrandonFugal FWIW I don't see that on MB - I see a lot of "fallen angel" types - people who started out believing - often as kids - obsessed with the topic into adulthood but afraid they'll be wrong & mocked so want to publicly identify as above the topic--while still staying very close to it
@DrBeaVillarroel@MickWest@StephPhenomena@BrandonFugal Good ideas! I've spent time on MB seeing your work (Dr. Villarroel) get mocked non-stop. Mick ignores all but the worst abuses. Snark is rewarded on there. I left in frustration - it's not a community of skeptics, it's an echo chamber. Dissent is actively discouraged.
@GoodTroubleShow@EricBurlison Ahh MAGA Matt Ford - I still remember when you claimed a guy sat next to you in a bar and asked some basic questions and you convinced yourself it was a CIA plant tracing your movements. 🤣
@BosLeonRivera@RepLuna I live on the US Canada border. My town is decimated because the Canadians won't come anymore. Turns out talking about taking over their country and constant tariffs doesn't make them want to do business with us.
Go figure.
@BreezyT524806@EricBurlison This works unless something catastrophic happens - and I hope it doesn't - like cancer where you need really serious treatments and hospitalizations. That's what put people into bankruptcy for medical debt and was a big catalyst for the ACA. So you are basically gambling.
@LoriShe29198783@EricBurlison Umm no - it was a product of compromises. That doesn't mean "built to fail" it means imperfect. It still got millions of people insurance who never could and removed pre-existing condition loopholes.
@EricBurlison You are right - the end goal was/is single payer. Single payer works because you literally cut out the middleman - the insurance company. People like it and it works - that's the reason you will never get rid of Medicare.
Your plan does nothing to drive down health care costs.
