- Young men with beards. Women with their hair down.
It’s a complete break from the status quo and the old parties are going to find it very hard to catch up.
All said and done, this is new-gen politics in Tamil Nadu.
- A fiery speech that actually connected with people.
– Sworn in wearing suits.
– Hugging the CM after the oath, not falling at his feet.
Makkal’s verdict is Mahesh’s verdict. Like Vasanthan Perumal asks in Ko, 'oru maatram venum dhaaney?', the people have voted for change. Oru viral puratchi has happened! Congrats to TVK on a landslide victory.
The real game begins now. Governance of a complex state like TN is gonna be a completely different ball game. Criticism & skepticism will be aplenty & rightly so. I’m seated to see how TVK tackles the challenges ahead.
2 things stand out about Thalapathy from whatever we’ve seen so far:
1. his single mindedness to achieve his goals come what may
2. his relentless drive to rise to the top at whatever he does
From his political journey being written off with 'cinema is not politics' & 'fan koottam won’t translate into votes' to pulling off a thumping win & from 'indha moonji laam hero va?' to rising to the very top of Tamil cinema, he has always thrived on proving his detractors wrong. Let’s see how he goes about it in politics too.
The MGR era was something most of us only heard about from our parents, grandparents, uncle's & aunts. But this, the 'Thalaivar Vijay' era, we’re going to witness in real time. Wishing TVK the very best to deliver strong governance for Tamil Nadu & best wishes to CM Vijay sir to become The People’s Champion in politics too by actually creating a meaningful difference.
TN 2026!
It’s time for all of us to actively participate in building the state. For the first time, the ruling party will have over 97% first-time MLAs bringing in new minds and fresh perspectives.
Let’s not normalize corruption. Instead, let’s focus on strong, inclusive growth. Let’s support wherever we can. This wave of young energy and renewal should not go to waste.
Wildlife photographer Gaurav Ramnarayan has taken some really breathtaking pictures of the #Cheetah that has been wandering in Zone 9 of #Ranthambore Tiger Reserve for past few days.
NOTE: Though I am sharing it without the permission of the photographer but not claiming it!
Yesterday was the first time I did not watch Prime Minister's address to the nation. Simply because I knew the topic he would be addressing and was not interested in his explanations.
There was no need to club delimitation and women's reservation. There was no need to do this in middle of the state elections. Women's reservation bill has already been passed by parliament in September 2023.
Since both Prime Minister and Home Minister many times verbally promised that states representation percentage would remain the same after delimitation and specifically assured Tamil Nadu that it's 7.2% representation would not change, why the bill did not explicitly mention so?
It is not difficult to mention in bill what PM and HM was saying. That the 1971 census continues to remain frozen as the base year and expansion of seats in parliament would ensure similar percentage of representation for each and every state continues say for next 25 years.
Definitely Prime Minister and Home Minister knew the bill would fail in parliament. Home Minister is not a person who brings a bill despite knowing it would fail.
The whole thing doesn't smell good.
The impacted states needs to be extremely vigilant.
We Have Won! No one can use ‘ORS’ on their label unless it’s a WHO-recommended formula.
This is the story of Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh, a braveheart paediatrician from Hyderabad, who fought for 8 years against sugar-rich drinks falsely marketed as ORS.
Her persistence led to FSSAI’s landmark order, protecting children and patients from misleading claims.
“These drinks had 10x the sugar WHO recommends, worsening diarrhoea and complications in millions of kids,” she explains.
This victory is not just hers, but belongs to everyone who stood with her — doctors, advocates, parents, and citizens demanding truth in labeling.
Scroll down to see how her 8-year battle changed the game for public health and children across India.

When you start making good money in India, do this:
1. Upgrade your healthcare
- Get a comprehensive health insurance plan (don’t just depend on employer cover).
- Annual full-body checkups >> catch problems early.
2. Improve your food quality
- Shift from cheap refined oils to cold-pressed/filtered oils.
-Buy better quality rice, atta, pulses (organic or local farmer collectives).
- Eat at home more, reduce Swiggy/Zomato dependence.
3. Prioritize your parents’ comfort
- Upgrade their mattress, spectacles, hearing aids, or even simple things like blood pressure monitors.
- Their well-being is the best return on investment.
4. Invest in your learning
- Upskill: courses, workshops, certifications.
- Read books (finance, health, productivity).
- This compounds faster than any mutual fund.
5. Upgrade your commute
- A reliable two-wheeler or car with safety features saves time and stress.
- Or invest in metro/train passes to make travel less exhausting.
6. Set up a comfortable home environment
- Good mattress, ergonomic chair, air purifier (for metros), water purifier.
- These improve daily health + productivity
What's your most memorable Indian test win from the 2000s (outside Eden Gardens 2001)?
I’d pick the 2004 Multan Test. Peak sports drama throughout with no boring moment.
- A patta wicket that screamed run fest
- Viru bifffest, with a run-a-ball 309, India’s first-ever triple centurion, got to his 100, 200 & 300 with sixes.
- Saqlain Mushtaq found Islam & came up with his new bearded look after years of the clean-shaven Unnikrishnan look.
- There was some buzz before the series that he invented a new ball called the “teesra.” Ended with figures of 1/204 at 5 RPO. That was his last test match.
- Sachin, battling tennis elbow, carved a majestic 194*. Think about this: within 12 months he had 241* (Sydney), 194* (Multan) & 248* (Dhaka). But outside those 3 daddy knocks, he was going through a lean patch with a lot of low scores.
- Dravid’s infamous declaration. Coming to think of it now, If Dravid had let Sachin score his 200, Sachin would’ve had three consecutive 200s in Tests (Sydney, Multan, Dhaka). Not sure if anyone’s ever done that.
- Sachin's iconic last ball of the day googly that bowled Moin Khan between his legs (his most favorite wicket ever)
- India enforced the follow-on. Business as usual for Anil Kumble, with a 6/72 to clean up Pakistan.
- Result: India’s FIRST EVER Test win in Pakistan, by an innings and 52 runs. A royal hammering!
Now add context: this was India’s first Test against Pakistan in five years, the first series after Kargil, the political tension sky-high. To walk in & smash them like that was insane. A thumping win lit up by Sehwag’s saravedi, Sachin’s masterclass, Dravid declaration & Kumble’s class. Multan Test will forever be known as the 'Sehwag 309 match', but there was more to it. Peak drama, tension & triumph. One of my most favorite Indian test wins ever. Ten Sports days! 😍
Pujara retires.
103 Tests, 7195 runs at 43.6, 19 100s. The numbers alone don’t capture the true magnitude of his achievements. He batted 16217 balls in Test cricket, averaging 92.14 balls/inn. To put it in perspective, he batted more balls per innings than the great Tendulkar (89.4). 4 years ago, that figure was a staggering 99: only his late career slump pulled it down. That’s how hard he was to dislodge. His legacy defining moments came in back-to-back Border Gavaskar Trophies in 2018-19 & 2020-21 when he became HIM, setting up India’s 1st & 2nd ever test series wins on Strayan soil.
2018-19: 521 runs, 3 100s, 1258 balls faced: that’s 210 overs & 2 and a half days batted singlehandedly. He scored 103 & 71 in the Adelaide win, 106 at the MCG, 193 at the SCG. The only Test India lost was Perth, where he didn’t score. That's how crucial he was. Vs a full strength Australian attack of Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon, he stood tall, won Player of the Series & delivered 3 great individual series performances by an Indian batter in Test history, winning 2 POTMs. That's GARGANTUAN.
2020-21: If 2018-19 was legacy-defining, this was equally unforgettable. He didn’t stack up runs like he did, but he batted with unbelievable grit. 271 runs off 928 balls, soaking up body blows, frustrating bowlers & blunting the attack. His 56 (211) at the Gabba was pivotal in the historic chase. When we think about the SCG draw, we only think Ashwin-Vihari cos they were there at the end, but his 77(205) was as important in bunting the attack, batting 131 overs & salvaging the draw. Across the series, he batted 155 overs by himself, the ultimate shield for India’s middle order.
Across the 2 tours alone, Pujara batted 365 overs. That's 4 full days of Test cricket & almost 1 entire test match! A wall that absorbed everything Australia threw at him. That’s how I’ll remember Pujara. For his otherworldly grit, tenacity & sheer defiance in Australia. A true Test great. Farewell, Pujara.
In 1996 Atlanta Olympics @Leanderpaes was running hot until he met @AndreAgassi. My childhood memories are so vivid about him winning bronze medal. I guess that was the only medal India won in that Olympic edition.
