🟢 Long-Term — Held for more than 12 months

Capital Gain → 12.5% LTCG Tax
LTCG exemption → Up to ₹1.25 lakh per financial year
Capital Loss → Can be carried forward for 8 years and set off against LTCG

🟠 Short-Term — Held for 12 months or less

Capital Gain → 20% STCG Tax
Capital Loss → Can be set off against STCG or LTCG
Unabsorbed loss can be carried forward for 8 years

🟣 Intraday Trading

Profit → Treated as speculative business income
Taxed according to your applicable slab rate
Speculative loss → Can generally be set off only against speculative business income
Loss can be carried forward for 4 years

📌 Simple Rule:
Long Term = 12.5% | Short Term = 20% | Intraday = Tax Slab

There is an ‘Idli Market’ in Erode, Tamil Nadu where they sell 20000 idlis daily. Two idlis here cost Rs 3.50 and if you include sambar/chutney then it costs Rs 6.50.
India is an interesting country where a cup of Starbucks coffee costs Rs 250 and two yummy idlis cost Rs3.50!
