@MohitHarshMD In an era of (appropriate) social distancing, you still can't beat looking someone in the eyes and discussing expectations. We all have much to learn from @MohitHarshMD. Keep up the good work.
@AmberDeptola@AagaardEva@prathakker 100% agree. Clear expectations linked to specific, constructive, actionable feedback is the key to improved performance.
Myths:
-"I'll be happy when..."
-"That was my one chance..."
Reality: life events and choices are like any complex system
-Equifinality: there are many different paths to the same end
-Multifinality: the same starting point can be a path to many different ends

@hskulkarni @bmoore_beth@RakheeBhayaniMD At @WUSTLmed, we have launched an organizational effectiveness training program to help internal medicine residents develop and expand these skills. All of healthcare is done in teams and we can use empirically validated tactics to improve our work together.
To stimulate the type of creativity necessary to solve tough problems, leaders have to figure out what helps the problem solvers work best. Intentionality produces results. #iopsych#MedEd https://t.co/aWQYUuSUZn
When evaluating othersโ work, avoid the effect of accumulated advantage by focusing on current, relevant outcomes rather than the sum of what you have heard about them. The โMatthew Effectโ is an old problem and a driver of bias. #MedEd#doctors https://t.co/YPTL5e7jhD
@FungalDoc@nbritt_pharmd We typically donโt have simultaneous histology but with the CLAD association, most places are aggressive when CMV comes back on a BAL.
@nbritt_pharmd@FungalDoc Except for CMV in the context of lung transplant recipients, regarding herpesviruses, i feel similarly about bal fluid as i do other respiratory secretions. Technique probably also matters if we are to differentiate bal fluid from general tracheal aspirates
@FungalDoc Perennial question: what to do with reactivated herpesviruses? This study is validation of the idea that the answer is, generally, nothing. I treat in the setting of significant bronchorrhea or mucosal lesions. Otherwise, I rarely even check for it.
Although more frustrating for learners, active engagement with material promotes improved performance and better learning. #coldcall#meded#medicine https://t.co/2f4fV5ruAV
Confirmation bias is when your beliefs hijack your neutrality in selecting and interpreting data.
To correct for it, err on the side of disconfirmation. Seek evidence that challenges your beliefs, and raise the burden of proof for evidence that affirms them.
