🌍🍎 It’s World Food Day – and our food systems are failing us.

Across the world, millions of people are being priced out of healthy diets - while ultra-processed foods (UPFs) dominate supermarket shelves, school canteens, and digital spaces.

New data show that:
🔹 66.6% of people in Africa cannot afford a healthy diet
🔹 28.1% in Asia
🔹 27.4% in Latin America & the Caribbean
🔹 19.6% in Oceania
🔹 5% in North America & Europe

As unhealthy food environments expand, obesity and undernutrition now coexist in the same communities - often the same households. By 2035, almost 4 billion people will live with overweight or obesity, with the greatest burden falling on low- and middle-income countries.

This is not inevitable. UPFs are engineered, marketed, and sold to maximise profit, not nutrition - and governments have the power to act:

✅ Restrict marketing of unhealthy products to children
✅ Implement clear front-of-pack labelling
✅ Support local, nutritious food production
✅ Tax sugary drinks and reinvest in health

🍽️ On this #WorldFoodDay, let’s reimagine food systems that nourish people - not profits. Because every child, in every country, deserves access to real, healthy food.
