Interview with “Kru Ngor” LISA’s acting coach: I asked Lisa, “Why did you choose this role? It might not be, like, wow, super flashy or anything.” Lisa said this was her first job in acting. She wanted to start with something simple first, like she wanted to test the field, you know what I mean? I’m like, that’s so good. IW: I mean, she is, like, world-class, right? But she chose to take a role that isn’t even the main lead or anything. Yeah, because I just wanted to, I wanted to do craft work. I wanted to do my craft well. So when I tried, I started with an easy role so I could first understand what it was, you know? And after she studied with us and then went to shooting, the director praised her so much. He said, “Wow, when she came back, it was like a different person.” My manager told me the director said, “Wow, you’re so charming when you act.” He gets it now, because sometimes the director might kind of think, he might have thought beforehand, “Hey, as an artist, will there be any charisma or presence coming out?” The casting director really likes her a lot because she can act with this essence of the essence. It’s such a good essence that keeps the actor fresh, real, and present with the person in front of them. She picks that up quickly and applies it. And when the director praised her, you know what? Her manager said she wanted to come see me and bring a garland to pay respect. She said she wanted to bring a garland to pay respect because she wanted to thank me for making her feel so comfortable on set. So I’m not surprised at all that she’s world-class. So this is what her mindset is like.
