In 2019, the global market for AYUSH and alternative medicine was valued at USD 450 million. It is projected to experience a growth rate of over 8.6%, reaching a market size exceeding USD 800 million by 2026.

#AYUSH encompasses traditional Indian therapies, including Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy. The popularity of these practices in India is driven by the perceived safety and effectiveness of AYUSH treatments, which are deeply rooted in natural resources and ancient texts.

India is a significant exporter of alternative medicines, with strong demand from countries like Germany, France, and the United States. The Indian government has established laws and regulations that support research-based AYUSH enterprises, fostering a robust foundation and regulatory framework.

However, conventional medicine remains a formidable competitor, posing challenges to the growth of the Indian alternative and AYUSH markets.

#Odisha state has the potential to become a leading exporter of AYUSH products if the government recognizes and harnesses their potency.
